I hadn’t heard of this, thanks for sharing! I had a recent Ebay experience that went terribly wrong, luckily the seller (who has been selling for decades) was beyond amazing and professional about it.

I would just like to say thatI am so sick and tired of scams oand scammers. Not a day goes by that I dont have to delete an email or text that’s trying to bilk me. Lately its been invoices for Geek Squad and Norton. I know immediately that they are scams , but out of curiosity I check the email address it came from and its some bizarre combination of letters.

Just finished reading an article in the NYT recommending never sending checks through the mail, and if you must, write the check with a gel pen and take it directly to the post office, not a mailbox.

I had a case a few months ago of a seller who listed a product, supplies of which they hoped would be coming in, but didn't arrive as quickly as expected.

I filled out a quick claim and had a refund in hours. No need to speak to anyone.

No and not intended to be. My experience was one where it might have been easy to jump to the wrong conclusion that something nefarious was going on (on the part of the seller) and start slinging incendiary words.

The story I got from eBay with the reversal was that it was a new seller (note that) who thought it was okay to sell something not yet in their hands and ready for shipment. Who, after experiencing a delayed dellvery receipt of their own, simply waited and didn't understand the need to contact me.

I spoke up after a month, jumped to no conclusions prematurely, and had a positive experirence. I found a different way to buy the same item (from the artist's merch page, as it turned out). More expensive but I received in one week.

Some get prematurely excited and like to sling around inflamatory internet clichés too much without really knowing what something is or isn't. Remaining calm and watchful no matter what is a better approach. I don't think offering "warnings" from a personal experience that may have been misunderstood, or from an untrustworthy third party source, helps anyone. There's too much scare mongering going on.

You can reach your own conclusion, my experience was indeed different - no need to speak to someone in person, no need to do more than bring it to their attention by filling out the appropriate sectiion on a webpage.

And, I assumed nothing nefarious was going on. I recommend that approach as everyone's default assumption.
