Rainy Blooms for Friday and Saturday

Two rainy days have kept me from making crosses, and this truly is my peak bloom time. Many plants now have instant rebloom scapes on the way.

All of My Love to you opened its first flowers yesterday. This is one I replaced last fall.

Memphis started blooming six days ago, but this was the first bloom that opened right.

Blood of the Martyrs had super color yesterday.

Jellyroll Morton is one I added in the fall. Its color looks different from pictures I've seen over the years.

Linda Hunt was added last year. It's color also looks much darker than its registration picture.

Neon Flamingo - The picture does not capture how beautiful the color was the past few days. It has just glowed in the garden.

Sultry Girls has shown deeper, darker color this week.

Empire of Desire opened its first flower yesterday. It's tall and well-budded this time.

Thistles and Thorns wasn't showing many teeth yesterday, but this photo shows how well budded and branched it is this season. This is a replacement I planted in the fall.

(Skin of My Teeth X Midnight Castle) X Thunder Glow #1 is opening so well now that nights are warmer. I'm still waiting for #2 of this cross to throw a photo worthy flower.

All My Love To You is so pretty. Memphis

is a perfect bloom. I agree Blood of the Matyrs has beautiful color. You know I like Empire of Desire!! All the seedlings are looking good. I am liking the Pink Aloha seedling as well.

I like your seedlings. I love a red with a watermark and a good pink always catches my eye. We added Jellyroll Morton last year but it hasn't bloomed for us yet. Neon Flamingo has done well for us this year. I think it is prettier in person than it is in a photo.

Your seedlings are looking great as usual. I to love Neon Flamingo, agree the color is hard to capture correctly. Glowing is a great description.

Neon Flamingo is wonderful this year. Colors in general are deeper, resulting from the cooler weather and moisture. That will probably soon change, And the season could take a dramatic turn for the worse. The last two years we have had drought, with last year the drought starting in late July and lasting for two months. The previous year was one of the worst droughts in decades, with some people comparing it to the thirties. Blood of the Martyrs is good here too, but the division from Northern Lights is doing much better than that from Ross.

Sherry and Nancy - I agree that the color of Neon Flamingo is hard to capture. I grew it for many years in Nashville, and it never looked as pretty there. It is several inches shy of the registered height here, and it doesn't have nearly the registered 18 buds. I only remember it getting to the registered height one year in Nashville.

Kate - All of My Love to You really had some nice blooms to start its bloom. I was sad that so many of the Memphis blooms couldn't open, but they should fare well now the temps are higher. The Pink Aloha seedling was darker in color than the photo shows, and I was happy with the edges on that one today. I was hoping for better bud count on that one this year. It's never matched the 24-26 buds it had five years ago in a very rainy season. Maybe it needs to be divided.

Mantis - I'm thrilled that Neon Flamingo actually looks pink this year. Usually it's a reddish pink for me. I'm glad Blood of the Martyrs is doing well for you too. It's multiplying better for me here than it did in Nashville.

There is so much to like in this post. BLOOD OF THE MARTYRS looks really good. I had it before I moved the garden. It was a double fan, but the tag was lost. So I have a lot of single and double fans in my holding area waiting to bloom for identification. Hopefully it is in there. The PINK ALOHA seedling is very nice. EMPIRE OF DESIRE jumps off the screen. As I said, a lot to like.

Memphis has had opening issues here too; probably likes warmer temps. I noticed today that Linda Beck is shorter by a few inches.

What a great post this is. It's hard to pick even a top 3. Although purple doesn't love my climate, I can still admire it in others gardens. All My Love To You is my favorite......Linda Hunt is a pretty color And.....Too many ands on this post so I'll leave the registered ones at that..........I still LOVE my Pink Aloha seedling. This remains my favorite of yours. Thank you for pointing it out as such............Maryl
