Dreading the Coming Inferno

I don't like nineties, especially with bright sun every day. After seeing what is happening in Europe, I am worrying about July here. But Debra ordered this weather, and Mother Nature obliged.

Here are a number of things that bloomed in the last week or so, and are on my screen.

Fast Draw McGraw from Davisson.

Early Shift lightens quickly to a pleasing shade of yellow with a lot of green

Boss Lady

Heavenly Hidden Treasure

Missing Waldo (Korth) has been showy.

Sputnik's recent flowers have been more pleasing, with a darker shade. The early June 90s, I think, sapped some of its color.

Spunky Girls

Voila Francois. What can I say--has never had flowers this good.

Maryl hates this one, but Celeste traveled over an hour to get it. Spirit Fox has looked very good.

Breaking News is a large flower that is difficult to capture because of the light center that will quickly glare.

Mystery of the Ages is taller this year.

Greg Trotter has been very clean and tall. I hear that it is a bit of a disappointment in hybridizing.

Garry Bewcyk has been very clean so far this year.

Vampire Bat

Dragon Nation on an overcast day. A vigorous early bloomer. Would like to see more of Culver's stuff.

Miss Money Penney can throw a beautiful large flower, but has the tall scapes and scant branching that can be typical of Hansens in the north.

70* is great. 80* is better, 90* is fine, 100* is not bad.

I hate winter and love summer.

While I don't mind the lower 90s at all, I would rather mid and high 90s wouldn't show up next week. Your photos of Dragon Nation and Spirit Fox always impress me. Voila Francois is so pretty when it's good for you.

Spunky Girls is giving a nice large clump. Showy! As is Dragon Nation. Missing Waldo looks like it would indeed be a showy and striking flower. Glad VF is giving you s show of gorgeous blooms.

I don’t do heat + humidity well so my garden time is limited to very early hours as in first light!!

We had the A/C man out Tuesday to do a check up to our unit. The last thing you want to try is to find someone during the heat of summer to fix a breakdown........And the heat is reportedly here Monday (103-107 heat index). 90 will be considered a cool down come August.........Voila Francois is so very pretty. How white is it in person? Yellow white or old newspaper white?........Boss Lady is a pretty shade of pink........ I didn't hate Spirit Fox, but it was a fader and that shade of orange did not appeal to me in person even early in the AM..........Maryl

We aren't looking forward to the heat either. We had hoped to start planting seedlings, but it's so hard when it's that hot.

My favorite daylilies today are Voila Francois, Missing Waldo, and Spunky Girls.

Not looking forward to the heat here, plus humidity…..I dont do it well either.It is good to see Heavenly Hidden Treasure growing some where else beside here. Breaking News caught my eye today…….hope you get a photo on a shady day.

I would say that Voila is a creamy white, not as white as Mal or White Perfection or Arctic Lace or Winter Treasure, but not a dirty white. What would you say, Kate? I fully expect that there will not be a repeat performance.

I would say absolutely a creamy white-and no, not as white as others. I have Wedding Dancer which is similar in color and form but smaller and I think both have a lovely color without the yellow undertones that make many ”dirty white”. With VF, every bloom is perfect (or almost!)
