Sunbrella fabric. BTW, love Kauai, stay often in the Poipu area.

Is the quality of the sofa/chairs good enough that they are worth reupholstering?

If they are, pick indoor/outdoor or Performance fabrics with a high rub count (Wyzenbeek or Martindale rub tests)

From experience most of the cost of reupholstering is the fabric. If you pick high quality and very durable fabrics, the labor to reupholster will be a small percentage of the whole project.

Explanation of rub tests

For me, based on previous fabric purchases, the rub test numbers quoted, in the above article, are way too low. I recently picked performance fabrics for my sofas and I went with a Wyzenbeek rub count of 100,000 and 75,000 for the chairs. With that durability rating I should easily get 15+ years out of these fabrics, with no kids in the house.

If you are going to pick inexpensive fabric for the reupholstering, then you are probably better off buying new furniture.

The labor and fabric for that will EXCEED the cost of new furnishings . It's a rental, Consider rattan indoor/outdoor selections, where easy cushion only recovers may be addressed as needed and are automatically indoor outdoor fabrics. it may not need be a sectional. but even if that is preference?

Zillions f selections ......Easy re do's up the road IF needed. Tons of colors......: )

Show the whole room all angles, and perhaps getting rid of wall to wall carpeting. : ) is a possibility?

Thank you. The sectional is more rounded and a sofa bed. Also darker heather charcoa

When you compare the price of new against redoing with Sunbrella make sure you spec the same level of durability for the new fabrics. Standard isn't going to match. Also think about upgrading the seat cushions to latex or pocketed springs for durability. Polyfoam wrapped is a short-term continuously deteriorating product.

Have you looked into the cost of fabric/amount needed, potential new stuffing and/or support and the labour. If you’ve decided to go that route, suggest Sunbrella or any treated fabric. Since it‘s a rental, be sure to ask about the timeframe.

Thanks. Thinking maybe just replace
