Look at a higher end porcelain that either looks like wood or stone if you are concerned with durability. Marazzi Unicheis one of the best mimics of travertine that I've seen, and it comes in modern large format sizes. Their Meronawood look has few knots, and is wider and longer than the typical wood look. I've personally used a lot of their sister company's Saddle Brook Oak Trail as it's a light natural background.

I never heard of Stuga flooring until reading your post. I like that they use European Oak (I installed European Oak floors in my home a few years ago - they are very pretty) + have much less impact on the environment due to the materials/finishes used. The color you've selected is nice. I also love how they have all long boards in a box! They also provide free samples + a LARGE one for $25 once you've narrowed down your options.

However, their Rebels collection seems like it would be the best one for your house - 3-5x harder than typical hardwood floors + up to 24 hours waterproof protection. The long boards are really a nice feature. This type of flooring provides a much better option vs. "luxury" laminate floors. Their specs provide that they can be installed in a full bathroom (I know people who have wood in their full bathrooms - it's worked out fine - however, using them in a bathroom was against the manufacturer's specifications).

I wouldn't ever install faux wood tiles throughout my home. If you want wood - you need to use wood. Plus, all porcelain/ceramic tiles is hard on your feet/joints.

While the Merona tiles that Minardi has linked above look nicer than most of the faux wood porcelain tiles that I've seen (plus, they are longer at 40"), faux wood porcelain tiles will always look fake - period.
