Totally agree, Maryl. As you know I am a big fan of yellow as well. A yellow was the first daylily I ever bought and it did not have a name but I still have it in my garden. most yellows, even when they fade in the heat, they fade "pretty"! I have always admired LAS in your garden. I like the new one. What are the pretty blue flowers admiring Who Loves the Sun in the bottom of the photo?

I am also a yellow fan! The yellows I have are the best performers in my gardens. Here they all hold up great in the sun and heat. Mary Todd was the first daylily I got thirty years ago, it is still here. Love your yellows today!

We like to say that daylilies 'do yellow well'. There never seems to be muddy color as we sometimes see in pinks and lavenders. I especially like the 2nd and 3rd ones with all the colorful flowers in the background.

Kate: I know you are on the yellow team as you show so many pretty ones. I think the closer to the original species color a daylily is the better it adapts to long days in the sun. Or at least that's a theory. The blue flower btw is a Scaevola; a variety whose variety name escapes me just now.....Sherry: You know I always like your Mary Todd. I grew it for a couple of years until I was forced to downsize. I liked the trumpet shaped blooms in particular on Mary Todd.......Debra: I hope you are enjoying a decrease in heat from Nashville to Indianapolis. I know yellow isn't your favorite color, but you have added some nice ones to pop the color on the rest of your gorgeous blooms.......Thanks Nan. When I think of you I think of your yummy oranges, but a nice yellow is hard to beat...........Brad: I was surprised a bit by the variety of color in your beds which you showed this year. I agree with you about finding the ones that are sunfast. When I first got into daylilies I was told by the "experts" that I shouldn't expect a daylily to wear well late into the day in our climate. Nonsense I thought.. I've since gone through loads of colors that wimped out, but this post shows that there are those that can take a 100 degree full day sun and laugh in its face (a lot better then this gardener can)........Maryl

I'll have to raise my hand as I love having yellows in the garden and my husband is a fan of yellow. I try not to have yellow upon yellow in the same area and think of other colors to plant close by them whether daylily or another type of perennial. Most times I'm successful but I do have mistakes. I am not so worried about heat resistance but I can understand your focus since you have some really extreme high temps.
