Pretty posies in NOTL

We got home today from

Ontario . I was asked to please take pictures by my neighbor and plant trader friend ! We garden together and babysit pots when we each travel and we take trips together to see plants . How could I say no?

This is Queen St. in Niagara on the Lake this NOTL. Way easier. The entire town every bit is exquisite horticulture. It is simply beyond my camera skills but here is a sample.

Baskets are HUGE!!!

Every single median is like this … every single one!

This was opposite a bench where DH and I shared a gyro as a late lunch. The picture doesn’t do it justice. It was ethereal.

Its breathtaking

We went to the canal to watch the locke as the HUGE ships have 1000ft of difference over the distance from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario where we were. Amazing .

Outside the museum.. my sweet DH. We stood up above the canal on the viewing platform for over 2 hrs! Water moves slow…..ly. ❤️

We were there quite a few years ago . Beautiful city. The Shaw Theater is there .

Victoria is on Vancouver Island in B.C.. Jilly, were you thinking of Butchart Gardens?

I was born and raised in Canada. These days I kind of wonder why I ever left.

Thank you! We had a great week with DS and family in the 4 bedroom house they rented in the Historic District . DDIL ’s folks live a few minutes away. DGS sailed with his group lessons at the Yacht club each day. We hadn’t been up there in 13 years! Where does time go?

Last time included a 3 day visit with ” Jane” if those from long ago remember her amazing contributions to the Kitchens.

Time passes and we move on but it was a wonderful nostalgic visit and seeing our 14 yr old DGS in action at the tiller was worth everything. A 420 . He passed level 3 today starts level 4 Monday!

We were there in summer 2013. Adored NOTL (looks unchanged).Needed only about an hour on the US side of Niagara. When we grow up someday I hope we are Canada.

I love Ontario. Lived there many years ago and visited the Falls from both sides.

These photos, especially the hanging baskets, remind me of Victoria (edit, wrong province), too.

I grew up not far from Niagara on the Lake and go back to visit family often. It’s a beautiful area with so much to do and see. Glad you enjoyed your time there.

Beautiful photos— IRL it must be even better! That restaurant and the street median plantings are like nothing I’ve ever seen in a public area that was not an actual garden. Fantastic!

This post brings back many memories. Do they still have the horse and carriage that goes through the town and the beautiful little restaurant that looked like a place for tea and bites? That town is still so vivid in my mind. I was there over 20 years ago. Thanks for sharing

@njmomma the Queen street is nothing except quaint restaurants, shops and more shops and more shops! Everything from gyros and Budapest Chimneys ( delicious pastry) to Dairy Queen!Its so crowded all day and night that you can hardly walk on the street. Cars defer to walkers ALWAYS so it is best never to drive there.

Oops yes, I meant Vancouver Island BC, Trapped. I wasn’t there long, just a couple of weeks, but fell in love with it. Another trip, we stayed in Seattle and took the Seattle Clipper to spend the day in Victoria. I hope to go back someday; DH has never been.
