We did a remodel ~2.5 years ago. Taj Mahal counter. Cream cupboards with hickory island/hood. dark bronze hardware/faucets, darker wood trim that "matches" the hickory, pine vaulted ceilings (not changed). The wall color (which won't be in direct contact with the tiles but through the area/dining/living is Pasmina from Ben Moore.

Just now doing backsplash. I wanted cream/neutral to keep it light, clean, Taj the star. My husband and daughter said I was boring ;). We settled on a more "neutral" green, Tilebar Paint Azure. I'm now having to decide on grout. Here are my pics before and with today's tile application (not completed yet). The tile pics are darker than they are in person. Current consensus is going with a darker grout (chocolate or dark gray), I'm inclined to go a tad lighter.

But I really don't want it to be "busy". Thank you!
