The way to do this is to look at photos of projects on Houzz. Take note of the designers that have done work in NYC with similar scope to your project. Contact each designer with some information on your project and your personal contact details. They will contact you if the project sounds like a match for their company.

Not sure if Houzz has a want add section. You may be best off scoping out recent local renovations of Brownstones that went well and finding out who the architect was. Talk to the owners and the builder if you can. There's got to be a local architect that can assist you, but searching on the internet loses the rapport you are in search of.
