Rug to Match Fireplace and Tile?

last modified: 17 days ago

I have a 1950's house that has a red brick fireplace and tile around the entry way and the fireplace. The tile is dark navy, dark maroon, and sage. I am having such a hard time finding a rug that doesn't clash with these "louder" elements!

Should I avoid a patterned rug since there's already a lot of pattern here? The entryway is where I'm standing in the photo.

Some limitations:

  • Kids, so ivory rugs are off the table (although I love the look).
  • I looked at Tumble and Ruggable rugs but couldn't find anything I liked.
  • We don't want to paint or whitewash the fireplace.

Considerations:

  • I found a solid washable navy rug, but I don't know if it would look too heavy.
  • I found a lighter gray silver rug too (see photos)
  • The patterned rug may be a contender, but I'm not sure if it's too busy with the tile.

Open to any advice!
