I currently have a tray ceiling in my kitchen centered over an island. I will be remodeling and extending the island an additional foot in one direction. To maintain symmetry, I am considering minimizing the tray ceiling on one end to keep it centered over the new island. I would like to extend it the same as the island, but there is duct work that would have to be moved and who knows what other dominoes would fall after that. Would the tray ceiling look okay smaller than the island? Or is it okay to have the ceiling NOT centered on the island? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
