I still suggest the sofa on your main wall. If you use the two chairs together with the round table in the middle it should balance with the sofa and they won't look too small. Once you add the drapes to the window it will also balance the weight with the sofa. Having the sofa in front of the window hides your lamp and half of the drapes. It also blocks the flow with the door and stairs.

Try a horizontal stripe or other geometric drape. I think you will be surprised how well it will look.

Hi gang!! The search continues lol I'm still stuck on drapes and have considered the feedback here!

I had ordered some more of the brown/burlap drapes from World Market, but haven't even opened those because didn't really like the other ones. I know I want a fun, young, print that fits my quirky personality but not too insane for the house. I got these...and I don't hate them! Lol which is more I can say for my other selections so far. I almost like them because they don't really go lol

They don't really go but they not really bad either :) . Paint is in order to make them look better...Right now ,even though they bring pattern and some life, at least more than the burlap ones, they are still lost and have nothing to say.
I'll be honest, please forgive me - I would keep looking, especially if you're nor ready to paint.

I also kind of like them but I find the colour is too dull for the wall and room in general. They don't really do anything to enhance the design. :(

Going back, I think the sofa looks better on the wall facing the tv. Put a nice tall plant in the corner where the shelf was, but not -in- the corner Put 1 chair with the back towards the window but not against that wall, and another across from it but angled slightly towards the tv. As for the drapes, I would have something that has a stronger statement with good color so they don't get lost over the white blinds if you keep them, or lost against a light colored wall.

I think we're on the same wavelength Lydia and BeyondFrames! It's been a long road, thanks for hanging in there with me!! Who knew it would be so tough! : / I wish these were stronger too, but you're right--they are only almost there. I will leave them up for a day or so to see how they handle different lighting, etc. who knows!?

Oh do they not have the ones you have on your walls now with a navy or gray print instead? I do really like them. Maybe if your walls were a soft gray they'd be perfect!

So I went on Smith and Noble like a few of you suggested --are those prices for real!? I put together a pair of drapes and it was almost $900!! They have some wonderful options there, but definitely way outside my budget. : /

Oh! And the place I bought the rug, Fab.com doesn't have many panel options...might as well hang another rug if I want a match...which I'm close to doing because this drape struggle is real!!!

Do you have any Jo-ann store near you? You could find the perfect fabric there and making grommet curtains is easy. Way easier than hanging a rug to match the existing one :))

That is seriously next steps for me. I do have a Jo-Ann and will see what's can come up with. I do recall their best fabrics being special order and sometimes pricey but they usually have really good sales. I'm going to try a few more (absolutely no options at moment) pre-fab options and surf etsy first...anything to avoid making them myself lol!

They usually have 40-50% off on Home Decor, and that includes special order. If you find one you like in the store, then go online and order--it's usualy cheaper there too.

You won't believe how easy is to make them yourself! I'll teach you step by step :).
And you can also have them made at Jo-ann - at least is worth asking if they can do them for you.

nlight11, all you have to do is make rectangular panels, then hang them with curtain rings and clips. Way easier even than grommets.

Why so much stress over panels for window. Go to Bed, Bath and beyond. Even Lowes carries. TJMax all have them measure for length. I would go solid and and stick to wall color. Keep it simple. Use a brush nickel rod extend pass window by 6-8" . Grommet are very modern and will fit your room.

If you don't want to go wall color or shade or two darker. Go the color of your nice chairs. No print. Use a print in pillows, with all colors in room.

Art will help too.

I still say that you should move the sofa against the wall, it's hiding the curtains and it doesn't make any sense to have this layout unless you have a fireplace on the wall. Don't go crazy with too many different patterns trust me, you will get sick of it very quickly. You want your house to be a place where you feel at ease and relaxed not stressed. If you do a pattern in the curtains, it should be subtle.

Needs a soft touch like the yellow throw rug shown earlier. Colour combo is very cutting edge,congratulations.

Hey Houzz!

Been very busy but just an update, the room is still a work in progress! I finally landed on a curtain that we love. A loong process of returns returns returns! I love patterns and textures so this combo is so fun for us!!!

I still plan on replacing the coffee table (don't mind the stuff on there now), but I need to give off the impression to my husband that I'm slowly curating the room : )

Finally found wall art we love and goes well with all the colors in the space. There is still much more to come!!! I'm proud of how patient I've been, usually like things done in snap of a finger : )

Once I get the new coffee table I'll definitely need feedback on accessories since I have a hard time with that! Thanks again!

No the table isn't 18 inches away from sofa, but if that's a good rule of thumb I will definitely do that! I'm looking for a coffee table that still has those same elements, just wider and taller. A few from World Market may be tried out soon.

You might add drapes with touches of both colors. I would love to see pale turquoise lamps somewhere in the room with the same color in objects on the coffee table. I'm picturing a lucite table or clear glass with aged bronze frame for the coffee table.

One last dilemma (who am I kidding)

There is space between my dining table and my living area. I bought this mirror console with the idea I liked it but didn't know what to do with it. I'm trying to figure what to do with the space without competing with the painting.

Any ideas??

the lamp on your new table provides symetry with one standing at the other end of the couch. so I like that. the console table is pretty, like that too. it seperates the 2 rooms without calling attention to the fact that it is there to do just that. like it. it adds just what was needed without adding another big chunk in the room. like it like it like it!! I think you have done a great job here.

I'm with abbyjean on the console. If it will go under the tv it will add a little bling to that end of the room too. :) I've been following you like a puppy! I'm doing the same thing you are. It takes so long, doesn't it? But maybe that's why your room is coming together so nicely! :))

I'd say the TV might overpower the console and thus it looses a lot of it's beauty and elegance. Personally I like it where it is. I only think that you need to find something to place on top of it, a solid vase, or some sort of solid tray (by this I mean not clear or mirrored) that holds different 2-3 objects with variable heights , texture and so on - a small vase with flowers, a decorative stone...

Yes @happyasaclam it's taking forever!! I'm typically very impatient so this project has taught me a lot about patience and taking my time with decisions...still have some work to do in that area though lol

I love the idea of the tray with stuff in it. Would it bet too much if I repeated that on the coffee table too? I'm terrible at accessories but those photos provided some great ideas!
