are you merely replacing the tile floor?

If you are keeping the tub surround, paint the walls the same color as the surround.

The color contrast in the room is what makes it feel small.

Choose a large format tile with a pattern and color you'd like to introduce, but something that will compliment the surround and fixtures.

EDIT - well, while I was typing my LONG post, Lyn snuck in and already provided some advice! Sorry for any repeats!

This shouldn't be posted as a poll - it should simply be posted as a Design Dilemma + Bathrooms as topics. Some people automatically skip over poll posts. I'd delete it and re-post. However, if you can't delete this post, you should be able to edit it. You will be able to re-select the topics that you want this posted under - don't add "Poll" this time.

Also, you need to provide more details if you want to receive help.

For example:

1. Are you renovating the entire bathroom = in addition to the flooring, removing the acrylic surround + vanity + toilet?

2. What size is the bathroom? Please add the dimensions of the walls.

3. I assume that you aren't thinking about moving plumbing - your bathroom is currently set up with the best layout (in my opinion - however, I'm not a designer).

4. Is there another tub in the house? The reason I'm asking is because you may want to change the tub/shower combo into just a shower. They have kits that actually make it fairly simple to do. The plumbing all stays where currently located + there are different options for pre-sloped shower floors (or you can have a custom one made with tile which is what I've done). FYI - kids transition from baths to showers much earlier than they used to - my grandson started taking showers when he was three.

As for ideas (without having all of the needed information):

1. I would replace the acrylic surround with tile (even if you need to have a tub/shower vs. just a shower in this bathroom). Have the tile extended all the way up to the ceiling. It makes the ceiling appear higher = the room feels larger. If you use large format tile on the floors + shower surround, the room will appear larger. Some people will use the same tile in order to make it a seamless transition.

2. You could install a floating vanity - seeing more of the floor tile makes the floor look larger. You don't have to install one that doesn't provide enough storage - there are floating vanities that are just 12" (or less if you prefer) off of the floor. I installed one that is like this + it's all drawers = much better storage. Also, there are ways to not require a false top drawer (which amounts to lost storage). You can make your counter top a little thicker by mitering the edge - and use that space for your sink + have a small u-cut top drawer for the plumbing if it sits too low.

There are sinks that are more shallow that work well - or you could use a partially recessed sink (not a vessel sink - not practical IMHO) - they just have a little bit that is above the countertop - the rest of the depth of the sink is below the countertop.

3. The contrast of the color on the walls and the color of the acrylic surround make the room feel smaller. If you keep the surround, I'd make the walls the same color.

Lyn has the right idea.Check that the leak has not damaged the subfloor.
Match the wall color to whatever surround you finally choose if changing the one you have now.
Nice that over the toilet has art and no overhanging shelves.
Introduce harmonizing color with tile pattern,shower curtain and towels.
Present placement of tub toilet and vanity looks ideal for the space.
