Unless you want to change the whole facade to accomode the wood door I would stay with the traditional as it suits the house.

Agree that the more traditional door is better.

Order the door in the color you want from the factory -- don't DIY it, the finish will hold up by far better if it comes right from the factory. One of the big name garage door companies partners with Sherwin Williams for custom colors. I can't remember which company off the top of my head, though.

I'd go with the traditional style and paint it the same color as the siding (no trim contrast either). Brighten up the entry door, lighter with a light porch ceiling paint color too.
