Rest in Peace Gloria

What an amazing woman. She forged a path during a time that was filled with so much confict for women. Not everyone agreed with her or her message or methods but she always spoke from her heart. ❤️

Gloria had the most amazing home and decorating skills. She had aquired quite an eclectic collection from her travels and gifts from friends. I always enjoyed listening to her. She will be missed. c

As part of a Women's study class in high school my mom and I went to hear her speak in Fargo back in the day. She was pushing the Equal Rights Ammendment. Maybe that would protect women in sports if it had ever passed. sigh

Another powerhouse gone but when a life has been as well lived as hers for 92 years, we may grieve but feel fortunate at the same time.

Gloria was my hero. Feminism simply calls for equal rights.

    Love seeing her beautiful house!

Rest in peace, Gloria, and thank you for your important work.

Gloria made my path as a woman much easier than those of my predecessors. I read a wonderful book recently called Fifty Years of Ms., and I learned so much more about how hard she and her fellow feminists worked. Thank you, Gloria.

She certainly lived a full, impactful life. Millions of people around the world were impacted by her work. My life would've been so much different without her in so many ways....RIP, Gloria.

I feel that this really says it:

Reader comment from the NYT obituary of Gloria Steinem:

“With my deepest gratitude, thank you for my mundane, unremarkable life as a woman who supports herself, owns her own home, and has a multitude of choices about how to live. Nothing about my life appears revolutionary because of all the work Gloria and many many others did.”

What a force she was. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was another one. I'm not one to cry easily but I sobbed uncontrollably when RBG passed away. RBG was my hero. Of course, I have tremendous admiration and respect for Gloria Steinem too. I wonder if women today may have forgotten that these rights were hard-fought and won and cannot ever be taken for granted. As a society, we seem to be sliding back on our commitment to equality and fairness.

RGB was my hero too. And I too was devastated when she passed. Selfishly the timing could not have been worse for all women.

    RIP Gloria. Another icon gone.

jsk, the timing was what made me hopeless and devastated at RBG’s passing.

kswl, I too wished she would have resigned to allow Obama to nominate her replacement, but I would note 2 things:

first, I detested Sandra Day O’Connor for her remark that she wanted to wait to resign till a Re:^[<ican president was in office. In principle, though not in fact, I would have felt the same if RBG did something similar. (How innocent we were as a nation to view these things as a sign of partisanship on the Court!)

second, remember the Re!.@#icans refusing to hold confirmation hearings for Garland and other Obama nominees? So, there is no guarantee that he would have been able to choose RBG’s replacement successfully even if she had resigned.

Anyway, I grieve the profound loss of the character of this country.
