last modified: yesterday

DH and his 100,000 btu propane cooker to the rescue.

Hard hit power out now 25 hrs and counting.

(Edit: they now say 3 AM - can’t find the problem! )

No problem for the chef . Bok Choy and orange peppers with his special sauce. Udon noodles under there.

One of us uses chop sticks . Irreplacable after over 55 yrs . DH also . ❤️

@Jilly this guy can’t cook a bad meal. ❤️ he says ” Hi ” to imaginary friend lol. DH met with our Gardenweb friends back in the day. Our Garett was at the first big meet up in 2007. Me and the forum and my family go way back.

Always a place in my heart for GW friends. 🙏. c

Caroline, 25 w/ o power can feel long—- do you have municipal water?

I’m gonna drive the 45 minutes down 81 one of these day and land in your front yard!

You are such a lovely couple who've weathered some storms. Your wok-based dinner looks yummy.

DH looks like he is enjoying the challenge! A man who can cook. Has he got a brother?

Hope your power is back soon.

@dedtired he does and he’s a bachelor and lives a mile from us and loves to cook! He and I went to college together and he introduced me to DH. He is the part-time organist at the Catholic church here. We moved him up here after covid so he’d be near family. He is 10 months younger than DH and also an Albino.

@lisaam aren’t you in C’viille? We get over there periodically . We should meet up.🙏

Power came on minutes after they sent a message saying it would be 11AM Sunday before it would be back on LOL.

Y’all are sweet. It was Garett’s 30 th birthday and I took him to NYC. c

I would like to cook Oriental for myself. Hubby will not eat it. I have an outdoor gas stove, just need a wok and recipes for one person. For now, I just buy PF Changs frozen.

@Sherry8aNorthAL there isn’t anything necessary about a wok for making Chinese food. For years before I met my DH he used a skillet. As for recipes he cooked for one and never had a recipe.

Whatever meat you want or if no meat then tofu or just vegetables. Try cutting up carrots in slices and broccoli in small bite size and bell pepper . Try to get all similar sizes. Heat the skillet with a small amount of peanut oil ( it has no flavor and high heat tolerance) throw in the veggies and move them around til they are as tender as you like . If using meat such as chicken cut up in bite size pieces and season with salt and pepper and cook it first for a few minutes til done enough. You can use fresh gingerroot that you grate and add to the veggies as you cook them . Top with sauce that you buy in the grocery til you decide if you want to make your own. So simple . You truly don’t need a recipe or anything special. 🙏 c
