I do the same thing but I enjoy deadheading...lol... Makes the bush look more Tidy, BUT, yep your right some Roses do not really need deadheaded and they do very well... :-)

Roses that do not make many hips do not require deadheading to keep blooming. They do look nicer and cleaner when they are deadheaded regularly. I wish I had time to keep everything deadheaded here, but I dont so I enjoy the blooms as they come. I do not grow many roses that make a lot of hips, but if they do I just enjoy those too.

When you deadhead a hybrid tea type, if you go down the stem to a large, vigorous five leaflet leaf, and the stem at that place is minimally pencil thick, the new shoot(s), will produce the best possible blooms for that subsequent flush.

Some hybrid teas produce such long stems, it's almost mandatory to go down quite a bit on the stem of a spent bloom to make the deadhead cut if you want to keep the bush from getting too leggy.

Floribunda and bush type roses, as long as they are mostly hip sterile, can be left un-deadheaded. In fact, some contemporary rose breeders' bushes are truly self cleaning, needing very little to no deadheading. Ping Lim's True Passion and True Love in particular, are great self cleaning roses for me.
