No, I think that if you highlight the window trim, paint the house all one tone, it will give the house a very country/rock wall look and with that Somerville Red…well, I would love it.

Here is another idea - your stone is somewhat similar to a renovation client of ours. You might want to consider adding posts to the porch roof in front? And if you do like shutters, you could even add a little hardware detail like we did in the attached pic.

Agree with earlier idea. Posts on the porch roof would give more definition to that area. I would keep the shutters. The style of your home is different than in the post that recommended no shutteres. There is no other architectural feature on the upper house and the shutters provide some interest. Based on the picture, your stone appears to be mostly grey in color. What about a very light grey for the clapboard? Afraid matching the slate will make it too monochromatic. Keep the gararge doors and shutters painted the darker grey or paint white. The soft red for the front door is a great idea. Nothing too bright. The door color depicted in the picture posted by iplay10s would be very nice. I would keep the window trim white. Good luck!

bms, my recommendation for no shutters is because they do not fit properly. Notice the two top left…and the two top right are too narrow to cover the glass, which is one of the requirements.

I picture the house a nice bluish grey with bright white trim. Shutters in a lighter grey or even black. I would also like to see wider trim work around the windows painted a crisp white. I think heavier columns for the front porch is an excellent idea. Then finish the house off with some window boxes.

Forgot to mention-I would put some shutters on the first floor right window as well

It turned out a little dark, but it was just to sell it, so we let it go. New garage doors helped a ton. Thanks to you all for the advice!
