Nice job on the island. I would

-leave the cabinets maple
-change hardware to match island hardware
-repaint the yellow. It in no way works in that room. I would paint sort of the tone of your backsplash

Would you sand the ginger wash that I have off the maple cabinets and put some other glaze on? And yes, wall color is leaving. I have chosen a basic taupe.

Okay, I was wondering why the cabinets looked a little orange.

I am just trying to save you some work here. You may want to wait until after you paint the walls to see if the cabinets look less orange. They may tone down some after you paint the walls.

If, after painting, they still look unappealing, then you could take off the ginger wash and apply a wash that has grey tones in it.

In an ideal world, if you were starting from scratch, that is what I would advise....leave cabinets maple, but apply a grey-based wash.
