Thoughts on exterior mock-up?

We are planning to install new exterior doors and thinking about adding some shutters. We played around on photoshop with some of the colors. Any thoughts on this combo? Any other suggestions?

A couple of things:
-The front door we are set on getting a full glass storm door
-We tried shutters on the window in the stone but it didn't look right
-We do plan to replace the house number
-On the side, we didn't mock up the door but it would be the same type of storm door with a similar door to the existing one, painted the same color as the front. I'm starting to wonder now how it would look with no storm door. We don't really use the one on that side as it is.
-We hate the awning on the side and would love to replace it with something nice, but it just doesn't make sense for us to do that when we will be selling this house in around 5 years. Does it look ok without the awning? There is a light next to the door but it accidentally got photoshopped out :)

If you want shutters then use the panel type that have hardware. So they appear to be functional. I would prefer the black over the white. Yes, no awning!

Maybe a flower box on the small window in the front of the house. Honestly, I wouldn't put shutters on the side of the house as it looks to busy.

No awning...and black shutters look great. One interesting thing is the front left window where you want the shutters to go. The window looks so small. Is that a bedroom or bath window? I know it could get costly...but someday (if you plan on staying there awhile) look at options to expand on that area.

But your shutter ideas look good...sames with front door. If you want to accent the door color, you can make that color pop just a little more. Looks like you get a fair amount of sun there, so black, deep reds, navy will look great but will make the door very hot.

Sundeleaf - that's our kitchen window! Isn't that so sad? We used to not have the white shutters and it looked even smaller. I agree, the red door should be a little more vibrant. We tried to match some of the red in the brick but I think we'll be better off getting a bunch of samples and choosing from there.

I prefer the home without shutters, but I like the new red door. Shutters only help the one window in front but you can add a window box there and big brushed nickel or black house numbers to the right and a trellis with jasmine or a creeping rose instead. Paint your awning and downspouts and please stop trimming your shrubs into cubes, triangles and balls!!??! If you had let them go they would have filled a large part of the exterior wall on either side of the kitchen window, on top of adding some interest to your yard. At this point you may have to replant then hide the hedge trimmers. The pictures below are:

I like the red door and the black shutters, and you were reading my mind when mentioning window boxes. I think the one comment on addressing the small window should be researched; this really detracts from the house, it maybe a wise investment to consider replacing it with something larger to scale down the wall. I was also thinking that on the side of the house instead of an awning; and again it is an investment, build a gable roof maybe 2 feet deep over the the two windows and the door to match the gable on the house (scaled down of course) . This appears to be a street side as well and a little detail will add character .

Increasing curb appeal starts at the curb ... I would widen the front walkway so it's as wide as the front steps. Use brick that is close to the color of the house.

And then plant shrubs that don't give you the urge to make meatballs of them along the edges ... fluffy ones, maybe some perennials and bulbs.

Totally agree with the landscaping ideas, you need some softness and less sharp angles. I would also consider adding a small shade tree just to the side of your too-small window with maybe a bench and some flowers for color. It will help balance the brick with the stone and soften the lines of your home, making that window less of an issue. Agree with comment that the walkway is totally inadequate...consider adding a curve to break up all the straight lines, add some charm, and make it a feature so there is no question which door is the main entrance.
