In place of the hedge, a rock garden with cacti / succulents (if climate appropriate) would be cool. Consider painting both garage door and house in coordinating colors.

Consider textures, scale and color.

You have kind of a modern gem here with a little bit of assistance. They definitely messed with some of the elements to make it more goofy than it needs to be. Hope you do like dytecture's suggestions because that is the way to go with this architecture.

Here's my 4 step plan to dytecture's vision of a cool atomic house. Pull out the sunburst inserts in front of the glass on the top row of your garage door. Plain square glass should be underneath and will be fine on its own, plain and simple.
Consider staining or painting the little bits of brick to match the siding, and going with a neutral khaki earth tone - like sw sage green light http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW2851-sage-green-light/

IIt will work with your white, but ideally, you want to paint the garage door and trim this lighter tone - http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6164-svelte-sage/

Where they have the tan beneath the siding down the concrete path, definitely use the deeper tone paint to match the wall above, and use some modern trough planters coupled with a tall mod type in bronze -

This will work great with the natural railing tone - but paint your front door a modern tone for a bit of pop - I think a dark eggplant is your best choice - something like sw raisin or benjamin moore's black raspberry

For the landscaping, use one modern architectural gem that works in your zone - here, I'd say bronze flax and surround it with green/brown rounded river rock in the bed to keep down the weeds and echo the modern vibe. To the right, add pebbles to the edge of that bed so they line both sides of the walk -

finally, go to the white cap and get the san diego buff tone concrete stain powder, mix it with water and stain all that concrete near your front door. If succulents work where you are, use succulents in the bronze painted planters - the hard concrete going flat up to the wall w/out windows needs some relief

The other way is to go nautical and go for a navy /cobalt blue house - bm blueberry hill looks fabulous - paint the brick white, and the tan area one shade deeper bm bold blue
Get a nautical fixture in silver for the front door - use white trim at the eave and fascia and use the bold blue to outline a graffitti sized house number on the white door in a seafaring font
