Sorry you don't like the color, it is a very subjective design element.

I like the fireplace. And I LOVE the rug!!

Looks a bit cold to me. I'd add a fake plant, or maybe a water feature in the fireplace rectangle, to add some life! even a block of varnished red colored wood. Or a few vases with some color. An aquarium's temp would be hard to regulate but might look phenomenal in that rectangle in the fireplace, and add some life. They do have vase aquariums....a painting in their might be too dramatic, and draw too much attention I like the subtleness of the room, a little to colorless for me. Or how about some photos in that fireplace box? It's a great shape, but the inner shapes are really a neat thing and should be used as they look a bit empty. You really have a style that's consistent, and the fireplace is need. If the fireplace was flanked on left and right, it might not be too big, and you can move the vase of the table, the fireplace wouldn't dominate.
