Hello Michellerink, I too love round tables and it looks like you have the room for one. If you have a room that is square, a round table is ideal. For a room that is more rectangular, you may want to consider a rectangular or oval table to mimic the shape of the room.

Nice kitchen! I don't think the wood tone of your existing kitchen table is working with the dark kitchen cabinetry. I can actually envision a white table to contrast the dark wood yet pick up on the white trim throughout the space. Or a glass table for a more contemporary look.

Anything in the toffee range with warm golden tones will do - it doesn't have to match so long as the undertones are right. You could do a banquette under the window all the way across and that would free up enough space for you to do different things - you might stick with this table and refinish it / antique it to toffee, but switch out for upholstered chairs. Depending on how many you have to feed daily - taking this down to round so you had seating both at and away from the table with the long banquette would be lovely - then put the leaves in only for holidays. Ballard sells banquette units upholstered your fabric or theirs in several widths. That will gain at least two feet in the room because you no longer need space to pull chairs out - your windows are perfect height for this - even the ends will work ok because the back is more shallow. You will need to relocate the light fixture / move the sideboard so it might not be your first instinct. The way the doors line up the traffic pattern, it would really improve the functional area and beef up the cozy factor.
