How to refresh living room

Do you have ideas on how to refresh this living room wall? I like the color of it but its like something is missing here, it looks quite empty.

To me, this unit look like it should be raised off of the floor. The bookcase next to it looks like everything is shoved too close together, like there's a lack of balance. The wall, itself, looks fine. It looks like it has pretty metallic paint, w/ an abstract design. That should be interest enough. I think it's the placement of items, that just need balancing.

Do you have pics of the whole wall, or room, so we can see the whole picture?

Center your shelf! It is VERY unbalanced with the wall..adding anything above that TV will seem even more strange..center the shelf, then add two taller shelves beside it..this will add balance as well as fill the empty space on the wall. Consider getting crown moulding if you still feel like it needs more pizzazz.

If you don't have bar stools or it appears the ledge is not deep enough? I would add a unit by the kitchen that has colorful baskets/bins for your toddler to house games and toys and blankets. Found at Target.

I like your large artwork but it needs to be lowered to about 6-8" from the sofa back, or just high enough to not hit your head.

As there is not enough space for any kitchen table, what do you think about adding one small white table under the bar, the one which can be pulled out when needed? I need to save enough space for the kid to play. :(

Yes, the art above the sofa. A small table at the bar or a small drop-leaf table will work for you. If you use the ottoman for a coffee table and move the tall bookcase close to the right side of the TV cabinet ... you can use the old ottoman space for your child. Would that be enough room?

Is there another place for the piano?

Unfortunately, the tall bookcase cannot be moved :( Also there is no place for piano anywhere, it is such a small flat. Great advices

Move the ottoman for the coffee table. It will feel better and be more useful there.

I thought to put some white curtains as well, maybe it will cheer it up a bit.

The old ottoman space can be for cubby bins for your child.

The floor plan and using the space to it's best potential is primary. Curtains will cheer it up. I would choose a light color that is in the artwork for drapes and probably sheer drapes.

Add some bright color pillows on the sofa.

I will for sure move this ottoman and us it as table , as I anyhow got rid of the real middle table, due to the lack of space for child.

I'd like to see you use the ottoman at the sofa and I really think there is enough room for child. Do you think it will be enough room?
