you could ask the place where you had your kitchen cupboards builded is they could make you a side board or get this for that space ,it will help you by keeping your good china dishes and as a buffet during the holiday season .




anything that you put against that wall make sure that you leave some space in between the cold air return ,never block any source of heat or return ,painting is optional ,no one will pay much attention to it .
if one of these is on front of it it would be perfect

I don't suggest adding more dark wood. A steel console table like this one wouldn't be a problem for the vent. It would also tie in well with the stainless steel appliances. Adding two small benches would soften the look of the table. I thought purple would look nice with espresso but you can choose any colour.

You could also just add a sofa table, which could function as a buffet serving table. If it had drawers or a shelf, it could be used to store items that are rarely used.

This looks to me like the spot where mail might get dumped, keys, etc. Maybe a station for all that little stuff to be organized.

I would put a shallow console table with a curved edge in something other than espresso. You have enough staight edges and dark color;) and yes, paint the vent the same color as your wall.

I like Lydia's steel console very much! You could do floating shelves (lighted) with only your prettiest glassware and minimal art. Or, simple a large interesting art piece on the wall and nothing else (but, I'd remove the small art with the display on the large wall).

I would find a long buffet or console table, maybe a bar cabinet in a fun accent color. What would you think about painting the chairs to your dining table and counter stools in the kitchen the same color? After you decide what to put on that wall, you'll have a better idea of what to hang above it but make it something substantial - the clock you have there is a bit small. Your kitchen is beautiful but adding some pops of color will take it to the next level.

If you do a built-in, I would add some of your kitchen backsplash to visually extend your kitchen.
