Needed help with newer home

Bought a newer home that had cherry cabinets and floors. The kitchen counter tops/backsplash were a dark quartz & we wanted to continue the cherry floors in the great room & remove some carpet that had been there. There is a solar tube in the kitchen & under counter lighting which helped but wasn't sure about keeping the black appliances. Well, here's what I ended up with but as I have collected paintings/pottery in my travels I like to enjoy them so to many it will look crowded! Before and after..now onto window treatments!

Nicely done! I don't recall the dilemma, but I have a picture of your kitchen saved on my computer -- I remember loving the flooring. Great work!

Beautiful job. Great floors and FP shelving. I think your sofa tables and end tables are fine, but they would look great painted, gray or blue? I love all your ceramics displayed. The one in the corner on top of the cabinet with the plant is nice, not overdone, you could add more. I'm probably in the minority with that opinion but I'm really loving the pottery, nice color, texture, shine and personality. Add at least one more piece on the bottom shelf of the sofa table.
What's the big light in the middle of your kitchen ceiling? Is that some sort of natural light tube?

Wow, great job with the beautiful cabinetry. I like your blue accents and surprised to see it continue with the chairs. What make and color are they?

Thanks for the nice comments- we've always had natural oak & getting use to cherry has been more of a challenge as building is still going on. Doubt if I would paint any furniture as they were custom made & solid oak. The chairs are Ekornes & the big light in the kitchen is a solar tube (which I keep thinking there's a light switch somewhere). As I do pottery (better at buying it) I shall work on a piece for the sofa table. Will show some other views but cornices for the windows & putting in den units (being made by same guy who did the great room) is the next money pit drain.

Apologies about painting the furniture. I would never suggest painting over the custom-made oak, I thought it was something else (sometimes pictures lie), happy to be wrong in this case. Your new photos show the furniture off much better.
I love the light brought in by solar tube. Thank you for letting me know what that was.
Your home is beautiful, so much personality. Thank you for sharing it with us. Would love to see the den when you're done. Best,

Some people will paint over any wood ..so no problem. I'm not a decorator as our dining room chairs show- had them made with ladder back & Queen Ann legs??? Most of our furniture is almost 30 years old.

I sure did Iamjudy. We've had a nice conversation here. Is that your only contribution to this post? I have a feeling you're trying to be nasty. Tsk. Tsk. Such a troublemaker. LOL!
    (I even understood "your" post.)
