I'd say it would probably be ok, but sisal or jute will be very casual looking. If that is the direction you want to go, then make sure that some other things in your room are heading there as well. You could consider changing your art, accessories, chandelier, upholstery, and window treatments to help reinforce the casual vibe.
You might also want to consider your family and lifestyle. My grandchildren would make a mess out of a sisal or jute rug and they aren't that easy to clean.

Rugs with patterns hide more sins under a dining room table. We have an old oriental (not a valuable one) in our dining room. It was under my mother's dining room table, and it has now been under ours for the last 20 years. No visible stains and easy to clean.

I meant to say that the rug wouldn't be easy to clean, not my grandchildren!
