What about a light taupe color. It would warm up the space better than white.

in either case, would you leave the walls the same color? I was also thinking about replacing the tile. Maybe that would be darker if i went with the light taupe?

I grew up with a knotty pine kitchen. Loved it! I think I'd pull a darker taupe from the back splash tiles that is generally the same value as the current cabinet color. Don't know what colors you have in your home, but you will be able to accent with any color. Are you changing out the hardware? Looks like a great functional kitchen!

If you are leave everything alone for now, than leave the cabs and just do everything all at once later, as the cabinets are not that bad really. If you rally wanted to, I would just white wash them in the prelim since it's easier. And you will get that interesting look with knots in the wood.

I dont know what colors you like but depending on the tone of the taupe you could paint the walls a earthtone green or a pale yellow. As for the the tile on the floor i would pick something a few shades darker then the back splash.

I think you can leave the paint above the cabinets as is, so the focus will be on your pretty new back splash and your accessories and fresh cabinets. You can use your accent color on the wall to the right and hang maybe a decorative wrought iron piece there to repeat the hardware. I think the floor looks fine, but if you want to change it out, I would go with the back splash tile in a 16x16 with dark taupe grout.
