Mombasa granite installation update - SEAMS!

I don't know if I'm being too picky or if these seams are meant to be this visible? And the last picture seems like a crack? I dint know if this is completed yet and there is some buffing or whatever they do to smooth it out but they're going to be back tomorrow to complete the work. Any professional opinions?

I am not an expert on granite, but I can tell you this much.
1. The horizontal seam is probably due to your countertop slab not being very thick and therefor the edging was attached to make it look thicker
2. The seam at the sink is pretty much unavoidable on a long run of counter. They do it at the sink to be less noticeable. Slabs of granite are often not long enough to cover the entire length of the counter.
3. If you think there is a crack, I am not sure what you are referring to in that photo, I would certainly discuss it with the installer, but granite is a natural stone that comes with all sorts of variations. That is what attracts people to it.
Even if you had chosen a quartz top, such as CaesarStone or Silestone, you would still have seams at the sink and probably at a couple of other places as these materials are also limited in their length.

I have a 12 foot counter with a sink in the middle. There is only ONE seam and that is where the faucet is, about 3”.

How big was the slab you purchased?

There is no way to join two pieces of stone without seaming. The beauty of natural stone is the variation that nature produces. The horizontal seam is there to allow coverage of the cabinetry's upper edges, or to imply a thicker piece without adding the additional weight of a full slab layer (& expense). Your guests won't notice unless you point it out. On the seams where the pieces join side by side, they will be spread with an epoxy filler, and ground or smoothed out. My advice: focus on the whole picture- the beauty of your new counters, (unless there is a big gap, or bumpy transition... ) And allow them to finish the job before you worry. Remember kitchens are for ease of food preparation, for a lovely gathering place, sharing good times. Relax and enjoy.

They still did a poor job. It can be sanded and filled. They must have used a very thin piece of granite to begin with.

They can smooth out the seams a lot by sanding, and buffing. They use a filler to smooth it out first. Ask them to do that. I had to with our counters, the end result was much improved.
