We have counter seating in our kitchen. The wall that the stools face get dirty from shoes hitting against it when someone is sitting on the stool. We would like to tile the wall under the counter so it will be easy to wipe clean. Our backsplash is travertine tile laid subway style. (see Photo). I am thinking of using a linen tile for the wall beneath the counter and lay it vertically. Do you think this would look ok with the backsplash that runs horizontally? If so, should the vertical be with the tiles laid so the joints all line up or a split joint like the backsplash?
