I see bright colors in the painting reflected in your coffee table. I'd select one of the more sedate tones from your painting for the walls, and a brighter tone for this interesting piece. (The light basket is lost under there.)

What a nice piece of furniture! The doors are what make it so great so don't remove them. I suggest painting it one of the colours from the artwork. This green would make the piece very modern. Change the knobs for some polished nickel ones. If it's not too low then I suggest removing the legs or having a metal (chrome) base made similar to the one in the first image.

Paint black and silver leaf the doors.

Decoenthusiaste's ideas are perfect. Barnhart's examples are inspirational. I'd take those legs off. They look like they were added to the piece because the bottom of the cabinet has a standard bottom molding. Take a look with a mirror and see what's under there. With your tv on top, you may not need legs on the credenza at all.
