What items do you have to put on the shelf? Try differnet options and see.

For fall because it is, lol. You could start with a wreath sitting in the middle maybe some pumpkins that are fake. Some orange lights strung behind it all a couple small bales of hay at hobby lobby and things like that . Then change it out with Xmas stuff twinkle lights maybe 3 6 or 8 inch Xmas trees two in the back one on each side one in the middle then some lighted houses and bulbs sitting on the shelf and glittery garland strung in and around everything on the shelf. I think you need a large piece of art first, and then try smaller things in front of it, that you can change with the seasons.
