Opinions about white or almond colored cabinets

We are just beginning to think about our new home. Meeting with architect next week, in fact. In thinking about my kitchen , I'm interested in feedback about having a white or almond finish on the cabinets. Do they wear well or is maintenance/cleaning much more extensive with this type of finish versus oak or darker woods? I'm concerned about dirt and fingerprints showing.

If you look at Houzz, one would think all kitchens are white or off-white. I personally have a difficult time trying to keep my painted cabinets in the baths looking great. While I look at these white kitchens and think they are beautiful, I know that I much prefer the stained cabinets in my kitchen.

A clear finish will hide more wear and tear and be easier to touch up.

Timely question….I installed a slightly off white in my kitchen. The cabs were expensive. The finish was substandard and the company is replacing all my doors and drawer fronts. Just can’t keep them clean.

As much as I prefer the white look, I think next time I will go back to stained.

I've had white kitchens for the last 20 years and never had a problem, but we are a small family and not that hard on cabinets. If I had toddlers running around with sticky fingers I might feel differently.

White and off white cabinets do show the dirt a little sooner than their darker counter parts, I have had both, but they do wipe off very easily. I do not find them high maintenance even when the grandkids come to stay. My antique white ones are sprayed with a lacquered paint color.
