Agree. A shade of gray. Monitors look different so testing a few shades on the wall or painting foam boards and put in a couple different locations to see how it looks during the day and evening will be your deciding factor.

A shade of gray would go well with the brick and the floor, plus easy on the eye, bright, light, goes well with all of the colors in the flooring : ) Be warned a gray in one room can look darker, bluer or lighter depending on how much light hits it, also will change with different times of the day.

Gray! but as Darzy pointed out which shade of gray depends on the samples in your home.

Maybe you can find a color that matches the mortar on the brick and use a white trim color. Remember when the ceiling is white and the windows, closet doors and trim are white, it will brighten up the room. Keep everything neutral and let the floor be the focal point. You can always pull out the colors of the floor in a piece of art hung above the brick wall.

OF THOSE THREE OPTIONS I CHOOSE THE PUMPKIN. But if I could choose any color I would pick a warm light greige.

Could you post info about the tiles...manufacturer, color, are they 12x12's...Looks like something i might like for fireplace hearth. Thanks.

MSZOOM THEY ARE SLATE TILES FROM HOME DEPOT. I WENT THRU @ 50 BOXES ON THE SHELF AND PICKED OUT THE ONES I LIKED. TEDIOUS N TIMELY PROCESS BUT MANY WERE BROKEN N SOME HAD TO MUCH PINKY LOOKING TILES. SLATE TILES BREAK EASY.

THEY WERE ONLY $5.?? A BOX THOUGH. GREAT PRICE FOR A NICE LOOK.

go the pumpkin but half strength - it makes for a cheery entry with the cooler gray in the amin house. ?? interested in painting over the bricks - I have seen this done and it transformed the room. The slate tiles are a major feature in themselves and the bricks are a major sticking point in choosing a color. Be brave - paint the bricks!!

I think you should go with a gray, just not that gray. Something with a neutral or warmer undertone. The plum is too purple and the blue is too blue.

As many others have said, I too would go with a light greige color.

The pumpkin will not look nice with the red brick wall.

I agree with others who have hesitated over all of those color choices. None of them are good matches with the tile colors. The first gray is too pink/purple; the pumpkin is too orange; the blue-gray is much too blue. A more neutral light gray (not blue-gray, or purple-gray, but rather a dove gray or greige) would be my preference.

I agree with Feeny, and all the others on this, colours are just wrong, have you tried, BM Revere Pewter? It is just a versatile colour that it might just work with your stone.

What about going with wainscotting or v-groove up to, say, 4', in a darker colour, then a slim chair rail, with a lighter colour above? You could paint the v-groove with a slightly glossy paint, which is hard-wearing and easier to clean. A bit like this, only with the darker colour lower down!

None of the above. Don't try to match the colors in your tile, coordinate with them.

Look at nature; where stone like this exists there's all sorts of plants with lots of greens and browns. Consider all the natural fall spectrum of golds, oranges, and reds too.

it could be that the problem with the colors is that they are all a bit too rich - whichever color you go you probably need to go a shade or two lighter if you wish it to blend in with the bricks. and the slate. I would still consider painting the bricks over. Perhaps you could trial by placing old cardboard length/s over the brick on one section and paint the wall and cardboard section underneath - then standback. This may help you decide if painting over the bricks would have an impact. I would think the room would look much bigger. Mmmm..

Your greys are too blue or too plum,...if the pumpkin matches the brick, go for it, since it is the complimentary color for blues and greys, your floor will pop up with an orange color.

I have the same HD slate floor (bring home lots of boxes, chose the tiles you like and returned the rest). The 12X12 slate goes from the front foyer into the breakfast room and kitchen. I chose a custom color that is very close to the Revere Pewter to match a fabric. Revere Pewter with gloss white trim updates the look without taking anything away from such a beautiful floor (and will go better with the competing brick).

Unfortunately I have everything covered in prep to scrape and paint the ceiling, stain the kitchen cabinets, add bead board wainscoting and refinish the counters, sorry : (

Get some more gray swatches from Sherwin Williams. Software is a medium blue gray we used in our office.

i am a gray /grey addict lol the slate you have was my slate of choice for my entrance , i also repainted my whole living room Revere pewter and have dark/reddish floor it looks absolutely fab i love it !!!!! i am sure it would work with your slate. it work great with darker color reds and silver. Go with Revere pewter you won't regret it

I looked at the first photo in your idea book, you love earth colors and the copper color of the door against the brick, maybe this is the color you are searching for and why worry about it looking too small with a darker color, it is an entryway and even though it's small you want it to look nice warm and welcoming..........try the copper or cinnamon color or one of the gray colors you love so much in these photos from your idea book:

Before you have 10 coats of paint on there, paint some pieces of poster board and hang them in the room and wait at least a week before you decide to paint again, make sure you are still liking it at all different times of the day.

Personally I like the dark gray wall you chose in the last photo with the bright white matted artwork with your earth colors in it oranges, blues, grays and reds from the bricks and flooring will pull it all together, even the lighter gray on the other two walls pictured in the photo if you are afraid to go too dark. It won't hurt to put some samples up, live with them for a while, when you walk in the door one day you will delete the ones you like the least, then you will be left with the best color. The gray will go with both the flooring and the grout in the bricks, artwork with all of those colors in your brick, and flooring will seal the deal.

REVERE PEWTER it will also flow with your darker grey you got inside and its gorgeous in natural light do not go dark grey it's going to look cave with the slate.

if you want to pull more toward a blue grey i am tempted to suggest Silver Lake benjamin moore i think it would look great too above the brick and slate or BM Edgecomb Gray would look fab with the slate too. since you got a dark and light grey going inside it has to flow. i am telling you you cannot go wrong with edgecomb gray or revere pewter \
