Here are a couple of photos that show the breakfront in the room a bit better.
Please note: drapes aren't sewn yet (just hanging fabric to show the color/pattern);
I have 6 side chairs and 2 full back end chairs (- I'll put in room after I put the rug down). Ordered sisal rug with beige border- neutral tones and it should be ready in a couple of days.

Now fabric selection for the full back chairs (you can see the swatch I'm thinking about in the photo) and a neutral seat cover on the wood back chairs.

I'd love a suggestion for the wall opposite the window- I don't want to put furniture there- I have about 4 feet from the table on the end, so just something on the wall.

Also- I'm going to swap out chandelier at some point (something along the lines that Amy Cali recommended)

LOL, I thought the geometric looked great in the first pic, as great as it does in the second - maybe because I buy most of my fabrics online and am used to seeing fabric online?

May I ask what is going to happen to the gorgeous curtains in the first pic if the fabric draped over the rod in the second the final choice for the curtains?

A tip for storing table runners is to roll them onto a tube (paper towel, gift wrappool noodle, etc.), that way you don't get folds when you lay it out on the table. I just noticed that in the photo you posted of the room the way it was before you started redecorating, so I thought I'd post the tip for future reference.

No, LB Interiors, I don't think we are...I understood the geometric is for the chairs. The curtains have changed and I was asking the OP if she is going to use the floral now instead of the ones in the first picture that is a bigger shot of the room.

I'm confused with what you are saying? The way I see it, the ones in the original posted pic 'is' the same fabric as the one posted 2 hrs ago.

See the gorgeous (to me at least) curtains in the picture at Sunday 6:50pm? (Perhaps the confusion is in terminology? I live in the UK, I believe that style of window covering is called 'drapes' or 'draperies' in the US)

I agree with the majority to not paint the cabinet. I love the grass cloth as it looks like your breakfront has a bamboo design and the grass cloth will complete the look to make a different statement other than French country. I know you would like to keep the chairs, but chairs similar to the ones bluenan posted would complete the look even further. These chandeliers would be very nice also.

Just want to clarify that I am going to use the beige/brown/blue floral fabric for the draperies. LB Interiors followed me correctly. The original striped drapes(curtains) that Sunnie2day is asking (the "before picture"_ about are going to be used in a guest room. I've been changing the colors in my house from the reds/golds to the neutrals,blues and greens over the last couple of years and the d.r. needed an update so I'm going with the beige and blue floral drapes. I'm glad you all seem to like the geometric chair pattern and glad you get a better sense of it in the photo I posted today. It will go on the two fabric back chairs that are at the ends of the table. The wood back side chairs will have a coordinating seat fabric. Thanks for all the support!! You all give me much better feedback than my husband does ;)

That is a beautiful cabinet. Don't paint it. The wood is too nice. I would do slipcovers on the chairs to break up all the wood. We painted a really ugly 70's cabinet in our kitchen. Maybe you could do a painted cabinet somewhere else? They are so cheap on Craig's list. We got ours for $50.

I think the chandelier lowered a bit and perhaps painted a distressed cream could look very nice with the new room.

It would be shame to paint it I would add either a nice wallpaper for backing or have mirrors made to measure for the back add 3 lights for the interior to give it a new look . I would only paint it if the wood was not in good shape .



I wonder why you have a straight rod for the drapes , you could treat this window by keeping its shape instead ,I love the fabric that you have chosen for it .

It looks a bit small? Difficult to say. I like the style though.

cliffordhome I tend to agree with carolins (on most everything lol). I think its a little undersized. I'm also not loving the hard angles and lack of crystal detail. Let me search around to see what I can find in a drum shade in this price range.

Ok, so I see that the chandy you posted above is 25.5" wide while the beautiful yet overpriced one we are drooling over is 40" wide. I like the size of your current chandy. Would you be able to measure the diameter and post same? We could use that measurement as a reference point for our search. Thx

I would not paint it. I would add color by using pottery, china or accessories.

Ooo... how cool is that? I always like Amy Cali's suggestions, so I'm doing a happy (did type hoppy first, which isn't far off) dance now ;-)
I think the rule is to measure the width of your table and subtract one foot. That should then be the width of the chandelier. But rules are there to be broken :-)

Cliffordhome, I actually have the fixture you posted in my dining room. I wanted the Horchow fixture as well but could not justify the expense for a style I feel may have a limited lifespan. My table is 46" inches wide and the fixture works well.
