You are lucky because you can choose any colour you like. This is your chance to add colour to your room or stay with neutral greys and blacks.

Your floor is SO gorgeous, and I can't imagine a better couch color to go with it! My inclination is to choose a rug that doesn't call much attention to itself, like a flocati maybe. And to size it so that the floor is still visible against the couch, unless that interferes too much with the comfort factor. I do like the suggestion of some red, but probably just touches, not a huge block of it. OR, a very reddish rust? FWIW, a couple of images I've saved - the lightshade in the first one is the reddish color I mean. Also, in the first pic, I find it fascinating how well the creamy white with yellow undertone of the island fits with the whites that have more of a silvery undertone. I kind of feel like the white on your walls might want a little more or one or the other?

Not sure why a patterned rug wouldn't look good, there's no other pattern showing in the room. It almost calls for some kind of interest on the floor. :)

Perhaps you'd prefer a flokati. But it will be lots of blocks of solids, need some kind of pattern to break things up. Whether it's a rug, patterned window treatments or pillows with patterns. Some of the ones carolins posted and a few that I posted are subtle patterns, or heavy textures that would give a monochromatic look, versus a more heavily patterned one.

I like the fir area rug that mforr submitted. It is a nice blend of a lot of great colors you could incorporate in the room.

Have you looked into Flor carpet tiles? They have endless options for colour and patterns and can customize the size to your space. We have them in three rooms in our house and love them. This won't help answer your question but I have been shopping for a sectional exactly like yours. Is that from the Cindy Crawford Home Metropolis (rooms to go) collection, in slate? If so, do you like it? Comfortable?

Note: I have a nubby natural wool rug in my living room. It does show wear much more than the synthetic rug that we had before.

Plain rugs show stains more.
