Window dressing choices

I have a living room/ dining room combo and I was wondering if I should carry the same drapes throughout or can I safely put up coordinating drapes?

if you make a definite division between the spaces (like using a sideboard backed up to a sideboard or credenza), i'd say differing drapes would be fine, because they'll help define each space individually.
if it's not a really well defined area, using the same drapes to unite the spaces would be best.

A combined room should have the same window treatment throughout.

Can you send a picture of the space? Is it one large space or separated by a large opening? You could do it either way but a lot depends on the furniture plan you have as well as walls, openings and doors. Also, is it the same type of window in both spaces (i.e. double hung, casement) or 2 different (i.e. double hung in one area and bay window in another)

Here are two shots of the space. Any suggestions?

Is that a bay window by the table? And atrium doors? Will you be putting anything on the doors?

based on those images, i would do the same drapes in both rooms.
there's already a division with the columns, but it's so open that they're more like one big room.

It would look lovely with the same drapery fabric throughout, but I think you could do different, coordinating drapes as well, with great results. A nice custom detail would be to use two coordinating fabrics - one fairly solid and one with some pattern. Install drapery panels in each room with one of the fabrics, but banded down the leading edge in the other fabric. Did that make sense?

There is a Bay Area in the living room in which I have a window seat. The picture is not the greatest and. It was taken at night. There also is a sunroom outside of the area by the bay and the atrium doors. I am going to keep the atrium doors bare to keep the open feel between the rooms and not interfere with the light flow

    To Decoco, I understand perfectly.

Anyone have suggestions on color choices?

I like the idea of the same fabric or 2 coordinating fabrics but don't think you should have to put the same style window treatment in both spaces. In fact, different style windows in 1 space sometimes requires different styles of window treatments. I like to treat bays with something simple like a roman shade and use a coordinating fun fabric for cushions and pillows. What is the paint color on the walls? Is it possible to snap a picture of the fabrics?

Here is a photo of the window seat. I am going to change the pillows and add a cushion but fabric choices are still up in the air.

Here's an example of the same fabric used 2 different ways in the same room - panels on the windows and shades on the doors

If privacy is an issue on the bay you could always do a top down/bottom up shade with a valance

The top down, bottom up shade is gorgeous and I definitely will use that one in the sunroom when I tackle that project next spring.
