Cambria Quartz

Has anyone experienced any problems with the Cambria Jewel Collection of Quartz? They are Parys, Minera, and Rosslyn? Any surface deviations such as chipping, indentations, cracks in the glass? I would post photos but you can't see it by the eye unless you are standing in a certain light and way. However, you can feel it with your fingers. Feels pitted and dented.

just want to say i would stay away from Cambria they don't monitor their fabricators. I had a bad experience.

that is a bad install seam the same thing I had.

Mireya, so if your tile mason screwed up your tile job, you'd blame the tilemaker, or if cabinet installer botched your cabinet installation, you'd fault cabinetmaker?

I know people have had issues with Cambria jewel series and customer service. So I stayed away from jewel and vetted installers with my builder. We have had Praa Sand in place now for 6 months and I absolutely love it. And Torquay is laundry room and guest bath. Very happy with it also.

I think all slabs need to be verified before cutting. I know that some manufacturers don't do that with the quartz. We had a Cambria torquay installed in the bar area and we are very happy with it. We did see the slab before to make sure that it doesn't have any resin pooling. While I was there checking the slab, I've seen other Cambria slabs from the jewel collection and they looked great. I know there have been problems and probably some manufacturers are not careful and one ends up with a flawed product

When we did our K reno, our CKD recommended both Cambria & fabricator. We've had zero problems w/ Cambria (2 jumbo slabs) & fabricator's work was done w/ surgical precision. Latter used waterjet which yields amazingly precise cuts. Waterjets are very expensive, so not all fabricators have them.

Has anyone had experience with purchasing a slab of Bradford and having the pattern deviate enormously from the samples and the photos online? Specifically the tan shapes that are on scale with the blue, grey, and taupe in the sample and which "pop" a bit are 4 times as big and irregularly shaped. It looks like paint was splashed on the countertop. I am guessing this is some sort of manufacturing defect that made it past QC. The sample and photos online are so beautiful but I am definitely feeling buyer's remorse with respect to the piece that was offered to me.

It's nearly eight months since our Berwyn was installed. It's gorgeous! We have no problems at all (but I don't have a crockpot). I occasionally have used the Cambria cutting board as a trivet and it has no cracks or marks from either cutting or heat! We are thrilled with the choice we made.

We were scared off of the cambria and opted for real Blue Pearl granite. Natural and beautiful. Less $$$.

I love my Cambria Hampshire countertops! Absolutely no problems. Cleans up so easily, even with just water on a paper towel!

You don't have to have a crock pot to damage your countertops. Acid is the enemy of the quartz.
We used Torquay on perimeter tops and Galloway on Island. I'm pleased with the way our tops look ...BUT, I was able to etch and stain my counter top within a couple months of install. This was accomplished by laying a ripening tomato on the counter. It seeped onto the counter un noticed, leaving a horrid stain and damaging the finish.
Lakeside Surfaces - Cambria Fabricator came out without charge after I called Cambria direct in a panic, after discovering the stain. They were able to remove the remaining stain, but the finish was damaged. They used a sealer to protect the etched area.
I never had granite counters, only laminate and Corian. I've learned Acid is the enemy of Quartz.
I admit if this had happened almost anywhere else in my kitchen it would have been less or un noticeable. The spot is near the sink. The etched damage was noticeable from the way sunlight comes across the countertop. It now appears as a smudge at worst.

I've heard that as well. Don't let fruits and veggies lay on a quartz counter. My wife does it all the time on our granite and it doesn't affect the it but I still try not to do it. Tomato or ketchup residue left in our copper farm sink has enough acid in it to leave a large shiny spot that needs to darken again to match.

My husband has left sliced tomatoes over night on our Cambria with no damage. Also, he left red KoolAid over night. I work nights and come home and find this stuff!!!

I have had fruit and tomato sauce on counter and never had any problems or damage when left overnight. My Cambria counter is 3 yrs. old and it is as beautiful as the day it was installed and my kitchen is well used for holidays and canning in the fall. Love my Cambria quartz countertop!

We've had our Cambria Newhaven since Dec., 2014 & have had no problems w/ toasters, crock pots or fruits & veggies. My wife still says at least once a week how much she loves it.

We recently installed a Cambria Galloway countertop in a brand new home and it has numerous chips and divots. I absolutely love the look of the Galloway and we paid a lot of money for it. On our PDI, even though I thought I was carefully checking for defects I didn't notice these chips. The next morning when the sun was shining on the surface a different way I could see what appeared to be water in various places on the surface of the counter. Further inspection revealed numerous tiny (2 - 4 mm) pits and chips across the counter. We haven't even put anything on it and it already has flaws. It's almost like the polished surface resin (or whatever it is) didn't adequately fill in the depths of the Galloway stone - in one place it's like the stone almost protrudes from the smooth surface. I actually had a tiny shard break off and give me a sliver when I ran my hand across it. I'm gutted. This thing cost a fortune and was my favourite part of the kitchen (heck, the entire house). We've been in the house for 2 days and the countertop has chips and pitting. I can't believe it.

Hi Mjolnir, we can see how that would be disappointing.
Galloway is a very unique design that is a part of our Coastal collection. The
larger quartz size in the veining you find in Galloway gives way to a natural
look and feel that is intended for this design, as well as other designs in our
Coastal and Jewel collections. We’d like to chat with you about your concerns
around the surface deviations. If you could private message us with your
contact information we will have our Cambria Customer Care reach out to you.
You are also welcome to contact Cambria Customer Care at your convenience at

I have had Cambria in my house since 2004 when only three options were available. I loved it then and build a new house in 2014 with Cambria again. I have not had any problems.
Sorry, I meant six options available in 2004. Sorry for the mess. It is a work horse for me. Use my island for everything (the sides counters are granite which I don't like as much).

    BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I was ready to get some Cambria WhiteCliff but after reading the reviews I am SUPER hesitant.

    Myda,

Keep in mind most people posting reviews online are doing so because they had a problem (I add myself to that group). How many times does something work or look exactly as it should and you think to yourself, "you know, I ought to go tell everyone online that this is exactly what it is supposed to be."

I complained about some defects with my counter top in this thread. Someone contacted me and they're going to have a look. I'm sure it'll all work out fine. At the end of the day it is still an amazing product and certainly the centerpiece of my kitchen (hell, the entire first floor). I think it's a big feather in Cambria's cap that they monitor threads like this and actually contact people who have concerns. That's impressive customer service.

Go to a showroom, check out the products, make sure the installers are top notch, that may give you some peace of mind.

Everything will be fine and you'll love it :)

No one will change my mind. I had cambria in 2003 when I built my first home and loved it so much that I put it in my new home. Never had any problems with it in all of these years.

Ditto Gloria H. above. As I wrote above we got our Cambria Dec. '14. No problems. At least once a week my wife comments on how much she loves it. Doing bath reno now & used remnant for vanity countertop. Looks magnifique!

Hi Myda, we're excited to hear you're interested in Cambria. White Cliff is an excellent design choice for a pure white look. The surface deviation issues addressed in this thread are less common in this design than they are for designs in the Jewel Collection. Is there any other concern you have in particular? You can either message us or call our Customer Care Team at 866-226-2742. We're happy to answer any questions you may have!

Myda, I, like many others here, had a terrible Cambria experience, but nearly every complaint post refers only to Cambria's Jewel collection. WhiteCliff is not in that collection. I have some friends with other Cambria products and they have been extremely happy as well. Just stay away from anything in the jeweled line for a kitchen, work with a good fabricator, inspect your slabs and have them do a tape layout so you know which pieces will go where in your kitchen. You should be fine.

    An update:

You can see from my previous posts that I own a Cambria Galloway countertop. I had some issues with what I perceived to be defects in the counter and expressed some frustration with that (and the lack of assistance from the home builder). Cambria contacted me without any prompting based on my post, which I find impressive, but even more impressive was their effort to follow up and make sure I was happy.

Cambria sent someone to look at my counter, they explained the situation, and it was quite likely that the builder caused some of the major defects (not the installers themselves but the people working in the home after the install). The Cambria rep. fixed the chips so well I wouldn't have a clue they were there. They also told me about their warranty (which the builder neglected to mention) and I was stunned - I can't think of a company that covers their product as well, for anywhere near as long.

Needless to say I am writing to let everyone know how impressed I am with this company. First, the issues with the counter weren't even Cambria's fault. Second, they went out of their way to contact me to ensure I was satisfied with the product. Third, they fixed the counter at no cost to me. Fourth, their warranty and customer service is, in my opinion, unmatched.

If you're debating over whether or not to get a Cambria counter, I would suggest you go for it. They're gorgeous (as mentioned in earlier posts, it's my favourite part of the house) and you can't beat the customer service. As it stands now, my counter looks perfect and I'm very happy.

We have owned several homes and have always installed granite. This time, we paid more and went with Cambria. Bad decision. Waste of money. This stuff stains. Cambria chips easily. They sent their techs out twice to fix a few spots and to clean our counter tops. You can see where they fixed/applied color to the specific faulty spots and our counters are hazy looking. Cambria is NOT a solid surface as some interior designers will tell you. Our Cambria counter tops are a huge maintenance issue. They never look clean. Stick with natural stone.

Brenda S., are you sure you got Cambria? We've had our Cambria Newhaven since day before Christmas Eve, '14, & my wife still raves about it. We used a remnant for vanity countertop in the bath off the family room.

I cannot believe you have Cambria. It is a quartz material. It is NOT a solid surface and has never been sold as such. I have had red kool aid sit on my Cambria over nite with nary a stain. I think you have the name of the material confused with something else.

Brenda, I have to agree with Kathi Steele. I have had it in our kitchen since 2012 and in our bathrooms since 2014 and NEVER a stain or haze. We have probably spilled about everything as we eat on our Cambria countertop every day and entertain a lot. I did have a ding in it after a 7.2 earthquake knocked loose a pane of glass in an upper cabinet and it hit my counter top. Had the original installer come out and repair it with resin and you have to really look for it to find it. Honestly, I could not be happier. I clean it with vinegar water solution and it still looks like the day they installed it.

Just got my Cambria Minera installed today in the kitchen. I’m a little disappointed with the quality of the product. In 2 areas there are bright colored spots. One bright yellow like a highlighter colour and the other one is pink. They are not surface spots.I will be calling the distributor in regards to this but not sure what can be done now that they are installed. Any suggestions?

We also have the minera in our kitchen and have the same issue. Just a few spots, one is red and the other is really kight colored. You don't really notice them unless looking for it. I was told it happens when the product is being made, foreign items get mixed in. I was told they could fix it, they can remove the spots and fill it in.

    @ Glam Fit,

If the spots really bother you they can probably dig them out and fill them in with a clear resin as they did for my earthquake damaged Cambria top. However, if you really look for it you can see that as well but at least it won't be an odd color. Considering how tiny your spots are, you may not be able to find them after the repair. I had a fairly large gouge repaired in mine.

I had Berkeley installed in my kitchen almost 4 years ago and I love it. I'm tough on it and I'm completely happy. Conversely, I had Minera in my bathroom and had to have it replaced almost immediately. Aside from the jewel collection, I wholeheartedly recommend Cambria.

Glam Fit Life-we also have this same Cambria in our kitchen--moved in three years ago and love, love, love it still! We have a couple of different colored spots, but our stone guy said to leave them, as everyone will know it's really Quartz. Could have been a line to just leave it alone, but I doubt it. He quickly said they could take care of it if we wished. We have Cambria throughout our entire house--Parys in the master bath-LOVE it! There I have a few extra large spots of gray. Both are near my husband's side of the sink area and he says it gives it character! What amazes me is how many people are still putting granite in their homes!Love my Cambria!

I've made several comments going back almost 3 yrs. about how much my wife loves our Cambria Newhaven (not part of Jewel Collection). I don't have good pic of it in our K on my phone, but here's the vanity where we used the remnant. It's in bath off family room. The door where I'm standing goes to patio, so when we're entertaining outside, this gets used a lot. Overnight guests use it, too. When I took this, it wasn't quite finished. That's why there's no towel bar.

Diana hageneau If the spots wouldn’t be bright highlighter Colors it might be a different story but for now one is right under the island lighting and the others are next to the stove directly under another light. So I’m very hopeful that something can be done :)

"I’m very hopeful that something can be done :)" This is what us fabricators call a drill and fill. We use a small rotary diamond tool to drill the defect out and then fill with colored resin to match the tint of the quartz then scrape it flush with a razor blade. some designs are harder to match than others and lucky for you minera is the easiest. All it takes is a clear adhesive and its a perfect match with minera nothing to worry about, very common practice in shop and on site no mess either.

Blue River Cabs, thx. My bad. Parenthetical comment was supposed to have read "not part of . . .". I've corrected.

Worst experience ever! I will never buy a Cambria product again.
Worked with a Cambria certified installer. Product was installed with numerous chips on the underside due to probably poor blade, chipped corner, and the biggest issue was low lustre on most of the edges. Cambria says it should be about 60% reflectance and we have 20 to 30%.
Cambria says they have no way of knowing what abilities the installer has, even though they supposedly have rigorous standards to become certified at Cambria! Guess the standards aren’t so rigorous!
Cambria wants to remove my counter tops and send out their field rep to polish the edges in my driveway or backyard with a hand buffer. REALLY, that’s professional. Met with 2 different field reps that just wasted my time and most of my initial calls even went unanswered to Cambria until I called and asked to speak to a manager. The poorest customer service that I have received also.

Every rep that came to my house was totally worthless, no return calls and one even quit the company and my issue was completely dropped. The last rep (Steve Troiani) that was out stood around and smiled a lot but never even got me the info I needed!! Guess that's why it seemed like he was new to Cambria and will probably be new someplace else soon! Talk is cheap. One of the field repair guys said he had been retrained from doing book keeping at Cambria

I’ll be installing Cambria Minera to my kitchen countertops any day now. My fabricator ordered 2cm slabs where he will build up the edge to about 4cm. I am wary of how this will look (I am aware of the line) vs having gotten 3cm slabs and no build up. I also like the look of an eased edge but unsure if I should go with a 1/4”or 3/8” radius. I like the squarer edge, but also want to reduce the risk of chipping (that is why I didn’t mention 1/8” as an option).

Does anyone have pics of their built up 4cm quartz countertops and/or pics of your radii sizes?

Feel free to respond to a separate thread I created just for this if that’s easier: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/edge-profile-and-size-thickness-on-cambria-counters-dsvw-vd~5603573

My Cambria is 3cm, based on recommendation of our CKBD. The fabricator did a build up that hides the roughtop & allows for a nicer edge. Mine is a super ogee edge. My family room bath vanity is shown above. My kitchen countertops used same slab & edge. In fact vanity top was made from a kitchen remnant.
