how do you care for your marble benchtop?

The marble is a natural material, therefore porous, so you can't let anything sit on it for too long or it'll stain. Soapy water is fine for regular cleaning.

The stone was sealed with a very high quality product we use for all our natural stones, Lithofin MN ( http://www.lithofin-australia.com/en-AU/__p/MN-for-Natural-and-Artificial-Stone). They produce cleaners for sporadic resealing, which are pretty easy to apply.

thanks for your help - I have a marble bench which is badly etched, just wondering if it is worth getting fixed or whether I just need to replace it, thanks for the website. Do you have any other tips for me for caring for my marble?

I believe marble can be buffed back, though you'd need a specialist to do this and it will probably be very messy (stone dust everywhere). I'd say it's definitely possible though.

Some tips for dealing with marble, that I'm sure you're already aware of: avoid acidic liquids like lemon juice and wine, as they etch marble. Otherwise, if you get in contact with the Lithofin people, they'll be able to advise about application periods etc.
