Need curtain help

What is the best way for me to hang curtains for these 4 windows? My ceiling is 108 inches. We had been using 96 inch curtains due to the arch right above the far left window. Do I hang curtains from just below that arch like I have been? How long should they be? How many panels should I use? Please ignore my currently ghetto curtains and curtain rod from the previous owners. :) there is also a door directly to the right of the 4 windows.

I don't recommend curtains at all. Instead, upgrade your blinds to silhouette blinds (source: http://www.hunterdouglas.com/our-products-detail.jsp?id=1) for a gorgeous, timeless feel. Please don't use a valance. "Eyebrow" curtains are never good.

First off all, you have to start with a nice rod - something from metal or bronze. Your windows have already blinds in it, so the certain is only to frame the windows in - so don't pull them over the window. To tie the windows together, you can use a valance that spans over all of them. Good Luck

I agree with Ann. Panels and/or a valance will only emphasize the awkwardly-placed arch.

Why is there an arch there? Is it to balance an arch on the other side of the room?

Yes, that arch is over the doorway to the master bedroom. There is an arch on the other side where the hallway to the other bedrooms are.

Obviously some thought went into the moldings and trim in this room, just can't understand the purpose of that arch. Is removing it feasible?

If you can't remove the arch completely (doing so would require redoing all of the cornice moldings), then at least "deroundify" it (my word, feel free to use it, no royalties). In other words, square it off, close to the ceiling. The roundness only draws attention to it.

Then, go track down your original builder and beach slap him. Consider it a public service.

Maybe four separate roman or woven blinds?

Anything with side panels just draws attention to the arch.

i would hang floor to ceiling stationary panels over the 3 areas between the windows. i think.
it might look weird.

hmm. that's really an unfortunately place bank of windows in relation to that arch. :/

You have a beautiful home. I think you need to leave it as is. I think just go with something that does not highlight the window. like silhouettes.

The only other thing you could do is build an arch around the front door entrance (if that is what I am seeing on the right) to echo the arch on the left side of the window.

I am always a fan a Roman Blinds. They are clean and tidy, they can also make a room appear larger. I have attached a before and after picture of a set I transformed a few years back... Good luck
