I'd definitely keep it simple - with slab doors. BUT I'd also wrap the cabinetry around the corner to the window - it will give you much needed countertop space. You don't HAVE to keep it high gloss white - you only need to be aware, if you like dark cabinetry - the rest of the room needs to light and bright. It's be aware of what happening next, and how it all connects to create wow factor, continuity and flow from room to room. Very important to get it right in small spaces. What colour is the wood in your furniture? I'd continue with that same vein of stain finish in your cabinetry for continuity - which expands the space. Good Luck!

Have a folding dining table for when you entertain rather than a fixed worktop one ! And hanging chairs too ! This lets you make the most of the space the majority of the time !

Great plans by Lampert Dias Architects, Inc.. The angled wall is causing major issues at the moment.

I like Lampert Dias ideas if you can remove the wall. If you can't here is something that should work nicely. I design custom cabinets for a living... so my mind always goes to making things as efficient as possible without the constraints of standard cabinets. I know this is not for everyone because it is a more expensive way to go. But, I would mount the TV in a custom hutch to accommodate the DVD player & cable box etc... depending on the height of the cabinets you would also have a nice decorative area up top for display. There is a lot more storage in this kitchen and it would be much more functional. I think it is worth getting costed out from some of your local cabinet makers.

I agree to the last post. Your boyfriend says tear down the entire wall and make it truly functional

If you can remove the angled wall ( or at least create a wide opening for a pair or more of interior french doors, you could perhaps relocate the kitchen to the side wall as shown. You should be able to tie a new sink line thru the wall and connect to the existing plumbing stack.
