You are a bit late on this decision. What you put on the outside often effects the footing and foundation layout. The newer products made to hang directly on the wall, such as fake stone and dryvit, are often installed improperly and cause moisture and mold problems.

If you like the grey shingled look but want a more uniform color, try Novik shakes. They are maintenance free and look beautiful. You can;t tell they are vinyl unless you actually touch them.
