Stair railing

I love the vertical use of cables. May I ask if you had any difficulty passing inspection? We are looking to do a similar treatment in our basement but our builder has concerns... Thank you!

A little tricky in some county's. You can't do this where I live for the concern of a child squeezing their head through the cables. Check your local codes. I live in the state of Washington and this project was done in East Hamptons, NY.

    What are the builders concerns?

Main concern is that we won't be able to get enough tension to pass the "4 inch sphere" inspection. At our highest point we are spanning ~6 feet.
I'm just curious as to what others have experienced, knowing that codes vary immensely.

The stairs themselves will create the tension. My personal experience with horizontal cables was the need to tighten the cables periodically. Good luck.
