Need help picking new front door.

We are replacing all windows and front door. New windows will be white painted wood with white painted wood trim. House is small 1957 mid-century modernish - rancher. Interior doors are all flat slabs painted white. Front door is the one on the left next to the hall closet. Want to add windows. Door is in gated courtyard, private and well protected. Thoughts? Should we go wood? painted? Other ideas? Thanks!

I agree that a simple door with glass would look good. But I have to mention that view. Wow! Love the enclosed patio too.

Just painting the front door the same color as the exterior would make a big impact and also economical as well.

Stick with a cottage style door, the door you posted is more mid century modern. From what I can tell its a cottage - yes?

Since you have a private courtyard entrance, I would replace existing door with a door with glass to let in light and add interest.

Thanks all. The house is more mid-century modern / ranch. Very low profile, lots of long rectangles (rooms and windows). Built in 1957. I definitely want to replace with a door that has some glass to add interest. Would you do a painted wood door or a stained wood door? Or something else?

Thanks! We love it too. We bought a fixer way too small for our family, because we loved the view. Any thoughts on a little glass on the top vs the entire door being glass? Our courtyard is very private. Only people who see the door are guests and the ups driver. But not sure we want it to be soooo open with a full glass door. But really want the natural light in the entry way. Thoughts?

As far as privacy goes you can always use frosted glass or a roman shade on the inside

You are correct. The courtyard/front door does look cottage. For some reason the short wall that the front door is on is wood paneled. Whereas the rest of the house is stucco. Thanks!

Hey Dan,

i posted a similar question today. I think our houses are quite similar. Mine was built in'63, also mostly stucco with a little panel near the door. We were thinking of a craftsman door as one of our options and struggling with the wood vs color question too..but anyway someone posted some options that might up your alley.
