Are you doing the remodel yourself, or hiring it out? Do you have a strict dollar amount you need to stay within, or can you afford to do whatever it takes to change the layout?

Assuming you're doing it yourself, removing a wall is a lot more work than you think it will be--believe me, we just did it ourselves, and my stress level was through the roof! If you can afford to hire it done, and that wall isn't strucural, I would take down the door between the two areas to open it up into one space.

Another thing that would be good is if you could enlarge the sink portion so it's as wide as the tub giving you a rectangular room.

Depending on your budget, you could put in a new tub and tile around the surround. We're planning on doing that after we finish our current project so we've been costing it out. Assuming you don't want to have all your plumbing redone, you can replace your tub for around $300, and tile it for as little as $500 depending on what type of tile you used. You would have to put in hardieboard around the surround that would cost you another $100 or so. This is what we're planning on doing, and I'm figuring we can do it for around $1250 assuming we don't find any problems.......
