No diagonal doesn't work. Try the rug the other way unless it is square.. Do you have another view of both sides of the room???

Center the rug on the sectional and pull it back far enough that you don't see any floor between the sofa and the rug. Like this:

aleamma, it looks fine. It looks like the rug could go a couple of inches to the left to be centered on the couch, but it's not horribly small. And it's a great rug.

I also very much like your art with the couch, but I fear it may be too large. That almost never happens; people always get art that's too small. To make it work, you're going to have to hang it very low--maybe three inches, no more, above the back of the sofa.

All in all, I think it looks great. Post pics when you have the art hung.

I love a more neutral color like gray paired with a bold color like red. I came across some inspiration for you. Check out the pics below.

Are you keeping the art? My feeling is that table and art together would look too heavy

Too heavy with the sectional. I actually like the style of the glass one you have; it's just the wrong size. Would it be possible to replace the square glass with a round piece? Depending upon the original cost of the table, that may or may not make financial sense, and I can't even quite tell if it would work from a size standpoint. BUT - worth a mention!

Saga continues! Pls tell me if this rug is appropriate for this space: sectional, artwork. I've moved the sectional to float in front of FP. Artwork will be hung to the left where the sofa is now. Plan to put low profile storage below the artwork to house media equipment. What do you think? I love the rug! Thx

Goes well. I like your art, but if possible pick two of the three and hang them horizontally. It will fill the wall, balance the sectional and not look too big.

Rug works with art but not so much with sectional. :( Also not too comfy to walk on. Has leather pieces.

Put something red in the center of the coffee table to bring the red onto the rug.

where did you get the first rug? I have a very similar couch and am searching for the right rug :)

With a bold piece of red furniture, I would use a solid, dark colored rug. Try black or dark gray. That will also help bring in the black from the artwork.

Found first rug at pottery barn

Here's my room. Still needs tweaking. Ottoman underneath art is temporary. Although, I do plan to add a longer rectangular ottoman if I can find. What do you think so far? Thanks

You turned the sectional, yes? I think the art works great alone on that wall. A couple of tweaks: for now, try centering the ottoman under the art and put the black stool-thing between it and the chair. And why is your coffee table in front of the fireplace where no one can use it?

You could probably use a bigger white throw on the sofa. Oh wait...it's a dog. He's so small, I think you need two. ;-)

@groveraxle, i do have two! look closely. :) just bought a longer ottoman. Will post pic in a bit. The coffee table is too large for the for the sectional. Temporary, until I find another alternative. Does it look weird?

New slightly longer ottoman centered. Still needs something on either side, don't you think? Overall, has it come together or a hodgepodge of stuff?

OMG! I thought that was a fluffy pillow behind the arm of the couch. LOL

I totally think it's come together. I actually think the green ottoman alone is probably enough. I'd remove the throw to keep that portion of the wall symmetrical. I like the way the art is showcased with just the ottoman below. I wouldn't put anything else on that wall.

I love these Pomada ottomans. Maybe one or two of these would work instead of a coffee table?

Is this rug too busy for this room? I'm not loving the brown shag and was looking at the black boucle jute rug when I came across this chevron rug. The price is right!
