A long while ago I built a three drawer chest with a gap between the top drawer and the top. In that gap goes the cable receiver, so that it is under the television. If I were sufficiently motivated, I could clear out some stuff in a drawer and put the Wii. The only thing that needs to be in a sight line with that is the sensor bar. Sorry I don't have a pic.

In Australia we use red eye to divert the remote instructions to the hidden device.

See that white outlet? It's an ir repeater, which allowed us to stick our cable boxes in a closet. Essentially, the repeater acts as the remote receptor and transmits the remote signal to the box that it's hooked up to. This particular repeater had a 40 ft cord that we ran underneath our living room and up to the closet in question (making for a fairly "sophisticated" install). You can also simply attach a receptor to the front of your tv and run the cable under a carpet, etc... to the box location of your choice. IMO, this is the best way to get unruly boxes up and out of the way.

IR repeaters are a great problem-solver - one note before purchasing make sure the particular model will work with your equipment ("single-band" models don't work with some cable boxes and other components, but a "dual-band" model usually will...) - if purchasing online check the reviews/comments for references to this kind of compatibility issue, or a good return policy.
