What I want to know is if they are as strong as regular steps or have they started to squeak and give under the pressure of a 200lb man walking up them?

They don't move or squeak under people I've had who are 120kg. The treads are an Australian hardwood (black butt).

Pretty much all stairs are custom as the rises need to be exactly the same height between each level.

Imagine...what if the entire staircase will be "acting as chest of drawers"? This could be accomplished by simply decreasing depth of each drawer going up; such should be slightly shorter then step itself, in addition to accommodating a thickness of the front of drawer which riser. One can always find things to store, like off season items, or items rarely used etc...

What a cool idea, as long as you kept a written inventory of what was in each and numbered them appropriately. Clever solution to normally wasted space!
