I like the rug very much. Will it fit when fully opened and turned like the table? If you love the rug, I'd keep it and maybe reupholster the chair fabric in the future. Once you get the room put together and styled, I think it will look great.

What else is going in the space? Looks like you are still in the process of setting the room up.

I like the rug for sure. It looks like you are in the beginning stages of decorating the room, I would definitely finish the room before changing the cushions. Lots of other places to add color to your room and the chairs will blend in more once there is more in the room. I have a suggestion. I created an app which helps with color inspiration. If you photograph the rug you can choose the colors you like from the rug and save them to a palette. Once you do that you will have the colors from the rug with you. It is very easy to use and you will find the perfect colors for table linens, dishes, curtains, anything you need to coordinate with the rug that will go in the room. You are certainly on the right track, keep it going!

Ugh, these chairs are new and can not be returned! We thought they looked good but maybe the red was hust too much!l

Don't feel bad about the chair fabric! It's a very nice traditional fabric. Many of us lean more toward a "fresh" transitional fabric with a more contemporary style. But your traditional rug and chairs look good together! Now, if you tire of the fabric in the future, it is very easy to DIY reupholster and you may want a lighter, fresher design.

I'm going to be a pessimist and say that the table and chairs actually don't look good, and the rug looks great. Id say otherwise if the table looked more solid... Resell it :)

Love the rug. Not that fond of chair fabric but get the room done and accessories in and I think it will be a beautiful traditional room. The fabric can be changed down the road, it's not a big deal.

IMO the fabric is too close to the actual chair color. I'd reupholster them by picking a color from the rug which I think is great. Doing chair cushions has to be the easiest thing in the world to do. If you can brush your hair, you can do it!!

It looks like the chair seat color is picked up in the rug. I like the very traditional look and I don't think you made a mistake at all.

Both are nice - not so much together, though. By the time you add drapes, art and other furniture it won't be that obvious.

I'm going to go against the grain here, I love traditional, love the rug, and your table and chairs. Don't change a thing. Very nicely done. Also, I love the dining space, the wainscot, all of it. And my goodness your floors are beautiful!! Keep going. The fabric on the chairs is perfect. Remember, do what YOU like. I'm with you on it, though, I love it.

Thanks everyone for their honesty and feedback! Seems most are not a fAn of the chair fabric but I wanted traditional. Also, thinking from comments the chairs and rug do not completely clash. So, probable keep the pretty rug! Thanks again!!!

Whoa! :) I think what you have is lovely, now that we see it altogether from above. Traditional, yes, but in a good way. How about a bigger centerpiece for the table? I'd look for something with deep burgundy reds and dark bluish greens perhaps. Candles, greenery, pottery, metalwork? How about a trip to Pottery Barn or Pier One for ideas?

not only is your rug aesthetically pleasing, it's the perfect size. i have a feeling that whatever else you do in here you'll get the scale right :) i like to have a series seasonal wall art and a series of table coverings and re dress about four or five times a year. that seems to squash the re-arranger in me that always seems to bubble to the surface. i would go into the blue category for color. if you crave bright, then i'd like a true blue rather than toward the teal. and maybe a hint of cranberry to lift or brick to tone down whatever blues are working for you.

What a beautiful room, very classic and not too traditional. The trestle table lends it self to a more transitional feel and the chairs with the rounded backs are a more modern take on classic Queen Anne chair. I think the chairs and the chair fabric work with all the other elements. If you add fussy heavy drapes and gold elements then I think the room would become like grandma's dining room. Mix it up a bit now and add some modern touches to give the room interest, a single large painting over a funky buffet to tone it down.

It always helps to have the space all together before making a final decision. The room looks great. Pull colors out of the rug for accessories. Depending on the style you are- choose those things that best suit you.

I love your rug and think your cushions will work once the room is done. I'm not a designer but think you have a great start to your room!
