I'd like to do pretty much the same thing. Out second bathroom doesn't have a tub in it, so when we get around to remodeling one, we'll have to do the other at the same time.

I take regular soaks in a tub so speaking from my point of view, not having a tub in a master bedroom would deter me personally from buying a house.

I would live in the bath tub if I could so no a master with no tub is a deal breaker for me!

It is personal preference. If you don't have a tub in the Master, just make sure you have one in another bathroom. I would also make sure the shower is pretty decked out- maybe some body sprays, rainhead, handshower, a bench, possibly steam, etc.

98% of my clients do not use their tubs. I have renovated many bathrooms where we deleted the tub and expanded the shower, gaining room for a bench seat, multiple shower heads and even a steam unit. As long as the house has a tub in another bathroom, my option is that it does not truly effect resale. Who doesn't want a nice big shower? Thx

Pet peeve, anything less than a 66" soaking tub. I wouldn't buy a house without a great master bath tub.

Not at all, most buyers prefer showers without bathtubs.......... Too much wasted space with the shower technology that exists today...

Let the future buyers worry about that. you live in the house now. do what you want for yourself. I've seen many houses with the fancy tub and they are all dusty and unused.

Don't forget children need to be bathed in a bath tub. So maybe the master bath has a shower only but a downstairs or regular full bath in another room.

Do you know how an overhead rain showerhead compares to a regular showerhead? Is there a need to have both or would the overhead rain showerhead do the trick? My husband's very tall and I'm looking for alternatives for him. Any thoughts? Thank you!!

I have a small tub that I do not use often. We are looking at a remodel and my hubby asked me about doing away with it. Nope...I want a soaking tub and will use it so much more often. In our last old home we had a footed bathtub and I used it all the time. This shallow one just doesn't do the trick. No tub for me, no buy.

A jetted tub is a deal breaker for me, it is my relaxation and therapeutic. The only way I would buy a house without one in the master is if a secondary bedroom had a whirlpool. It would be a pain to go to a different floor to bathe, though. The master shower would also have to be large, tricked out with steam, etc., but no tub in a house would make me look at another house or ask for 15,000 to remodel the master and put in a tub!

I would try before you buy that rain head shower. Personally I hate them. I don't want my hair wet every time I shower and a rain head is like pouring buckets of water over your head. No way to keep hair dry.

Children do not need to be bathed in a bathtub! We had a bathtub but still bathed them in the shower. Children can play on the floor of the shower and like to get "rained" on. I own a cleaning company and the tub is one of the least used areas of the house. right up there with the movie theater and exercise room. Some even use it for dirty laundry!!
